Anyone Gaming with a Wireless Mouse and Keyboard?

I've heard people complain about wireless mice and keyboards not functioning when the other is in use. This is really only problematic in games. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Don't know about the wireless keyboard, but I'm gaming with a Logitech MX1000 wireless laser mouse. It is a huge improvment over the MS intellimouse optical that I was using previously.

Yeah, I have an MX700 which I love. I just want a keyboard too so I can recline back and put the keyboard on my lap.

If anyone is interested, I bought the LX700 set. I called Logitech support and they explained how to set up the receiver to only work with the keyboard. Now, I'm using the LX700's keyboard and my MX700 mouse. Kinda expensive to get a decent wireless keyboard, but it works well. I played about an hour of HL2 and UT2004. Both work fine with no problems.

i bought the mx700 with the wireless keyboard (mx duo) back in january? and they work great for gaming...

no problems with CS, farcry, or warcraft 3

Anyone who seriously plays FPS games will not use wireless.

I used to use a wireless mouse & keyboard combo for games, & figured people who said wireless wasn't good enough for games yet were just biased.

Then i got my Logitech Elite wired keyboard & MX510, & I understood why.

I've even used the MX1000 mouse, & i still find there is the slightest lag (& i don't mean the known delay problem either) that i cannot stand.


Wired is best for games.
Wireless for everything else.

I'm not good enough at FPS that it matters. I like having the keyboard loose for when I play games like FFXI.

I agree with this statement of n7. I am switching back and forth between 2 mice for past 3 days. MS intelliexplorer(wired) and my new mx700 duo and I can see that little slag while picking icons on the desktop. I have used numerous mouse(7 all together) in the past 8 years at home and work and have found wired mouse always better than wireless. The weight alone is good enough reason for me to send MxDuo back.

Couple of days ago I picked up mx500 and did a side by side comparison between mx700(wireless) and mx500(wired) for 2 days and I noticed more control with the wired mouse than the wireless. In gaming though I did not see any noticable difference in movements except the weight of mx700. If you are a heavy gamer I would suggest getting mx500. It is by far the most smoothest mouse I have used.

i have the mx duo also, but im more precise and get a better reaction time with lighter mouses like the mx500 and razor. I especially notice this playing fast fps games. But im not that hard of a gamer so the mx duo still rocks

I just bought the standard logitech wireless mouse and keyboard combo off newegg. I figured at only 30 dallars including shipping it wasn't a bad deal but boy was I wrong. I thought hey wireless would be damned cool, but as soon as I loaded up CS I could tell it was not going to work for me.

I 've tried messing with sensitivity and precision options from within windows and smoothing options within any Half-Life based game, but still the mouse is insanely choppy. Its almost as if I'm skipping like 10 out of 60 fps when I move the mouse, I can barely move the mouse and it jumps a good quarter of an inch, after only playing 5 mins the world seems so shaky it starts to give me a headache.

Hopefully this is not reflective of all wireless and/or all logitech products as far as gaming is concerned. I was extremely dissapointed and I'm hoping that logitech isn't always like this, but I just don't have 60 dollars to spend on a mouse alone. Anyone know of a good wireless moust that isn't crap or would I just be better sticking with the old cords???

I just picked up an MX1000 and it works great along with the Logitech Cordless Desktop pro Keyboard. I've only used it a couple days, but I'd already be unwilling to give it up. I've noticed no conflict between mouse and keyboard whatsoever.

For those of you using the MX700 duo... what kind of usable distance are you able to get? I am building a HTPC rig, and would like to do wireless keyboard & mouse about 12-14 ft away from the screen

I don't notice any lag in any of my games (CS: Source, HL2, Freelancer, Battle for ME, etc etc).

Yes there is a way!! I felt like MacGyver after doing this. It's easy, as long as you're careful.

I have an MX1000 as well as the LX700 combo, and hated having to use both receivers. The LX700 receiver works perfectly fine out of the box with the MX1000. But, you still need the MX1000 receiver to use as a charger. The charger in the LX700 base will fry the MX1000 Li-Ion battery (if you could manage to jam it into the slightly different molded cup that is) Hence the need for both receivers.

Take a small screwdriver and open up both receivers (the screws are in two small openings in the bottom). There are two small, physically separate pcb's in each receiver, secured by a couple small screws each. The larger one is the receiver component, and is connected to the usb/ps2 cable. The other one is much smaller and is connected to the power line and is the charging component.

Just swap out the receiver in the MX1000 for the one in the LX700, and you're good to go with using the MX1000 base for both keyboard/mouse receiver and charger. The only thing is that the MX 1000 base doesn't have the printed Caps lock, Scroll lock, and num lock indicators on the front, so you see each of the led's as they light, but you may not know which is for what. Works perfectly other than that.

I'm willing to bet that doing so voids the warranty for both....but :thumbsup: none the less for figuring it out.

Absolutely. I'm sure the warranty went right out the window. Still though, it's easy enough to do if you're paying attention to where the pcb's go when you first dismantle the bases, and are careful with a screwdriver Do at your own risk.

By the way...I initially got this setup for gaming on the couch while using a digital projector for a display. For typical office apps and web surfing it works great. For real fast paced FPS's, I do find a noticeable lag with the keyboard. It's very minor, and still playable, but it's real. Just takes some getting used to.

Pay attention to the Lag Time and compare it to a wired keyboard. The wireless keyboard just can't process sequential keystrokes as fast. 40-50 milliseconds compared to 5-10 milliseconds for a wired keyboard. Very minor, but when I'm doin my jig with a rail gun in Quake, it's easy to notice. Price you pay for wireless I guess. I wonder if bluetooth is any better?

I've been using the MX1000 for everything, including games, with no problem. Let's hope it will play well with my Microsoft Natural Pro 2.0 wireless keyboard that's on it's way.

Just to put my two cents in...

I use the greatest keyboard ever (Logitech DiNovo Media Keyboard) and have no problems with lag. Now mind you, I suck at pretty much everything I play but as for lag, the only thing that lags is my brain.

The best $250 I didn't pay. And before you knock it, try it on a demo or something. It's the sweetest feeling keyboard you'll ever use.

Thats cause that model absolutely sucks ass. Playing Halo PC or CS with that thing was a fscking nightmare, you can't walk forward, jump, move the mouse and shoot at the same time, both stop functioning. Dumped it for a wired logitech keyboard and an MX1000, never looked back.
