anyone getting bionic this week?

are any of you going to get this on thursday? do you know if it has the same laptop style dock as atria and if so, how is data used that way billed? if you have unlimited data with verizon can you do unlimited surfing on the dock or is it capped as tethering would be

On the Atrix, it won't even let you activate 3G on the lapdock without a tethering plan. This was the big fail as far as adoption went.

Well, unless you root and hack it of course.

And I'm keeping my Fascinate at least until the Prime announcement.

I've been sitting on my new every 2 for a few months and had been planning on getting a Bionic (unless there was something horrendous about it in a review).

Now, I think I'm going to wait. The OG Droid is still doing everything I need it to do, so I can afford to wait a while longer. At least until some more info about ICS comes out.

Yeah my NE2 is up in Oct, but I was going to upgrade to the Bionic on one of my other lines on my account and use the NE2 for something else. That was 2-3 months ago when it was expected out earlier this year though.

Now, I still like my OG Droid, and would like to ideally wait until Prime is announced and such. With the SGS2 on VZW being cancelled, then the moto offerings (Bionic, HD) are up for consideration but my largest concern is encrypted bootloaders. I want to root my phone and screw with it. I haven't heard anything lately on Bionic bootloader though. So, the newest one I'm thinking about is the Prime. It, so far, seems to be everything I want. We will see if VZW cripples it as they usually do.

IIRC Anand did a review of it (or some other tech site), and showed much better battery life than the TB and Charge too.

Either way, gf just got the TB yesterday and I'm most likely going to advocate her getting the Bionic unless it's a locked boot loader (and even then I still will most likely since she doesn't need those features).

I think that for most of us that will meet our needs. Drop the brightness to ~50-75%, not constantly using it, and switching 4G/3G if needed and you'll get a full day on a single charge.

Bionic is TI OMAP4430 and LTE. The only other OMAP4 phones out now are the Droid 3(No LTE), and I believe the LG Thrill(Optimus 3D). The Bionic lost a lot of its luster being delayed 6 months, but its hardly a low end phone. And it does pale compared to whats coming in another month or so.

Personally, seeing how I'm still under contract with the T-bolt for a while, and my budget is sapped right now, I'll be waiting for the ICS Nexus. Or longer.

Droid Bionic = TI OMAP 4430, dual core, 4G.

The two are completely different, I think the only thing they actually have in common is the qHD Pentile screen.

To be fair, the 4430 doesn't blow the Tegra 2 out of the water so that's not really a huge difference. Also, they're extremely similar in body size/shape/maybe even weight. They probably have the same exact camera. The only thing the Bionic has functionality-wise extra is the laptop dock, but I'm sure that could be hacked onto the DX2 if modders are willing to take that challenge.

The Nexus Prime will be lacking a Droid moniker from what I've seen.

The Droid HD appears to be the next one though, which would be in another month or two at the earliest most likely.

Going by phonescoop specs, they're pretty comparable (Bionic is slightly larger and heavier). They have the same still camera but the Bionic is actually capable of 1080p where the DX2 only does 720p. The Bionic has good battery life but that's because they put a better battery in it (1500 vs 1750mAh). I just put an 1800mAh battery in my phone so it's probably on par now.

I would've loved the Bionic but I'm not in an LTE coverage area anyway so it's pretty moot. I'll be sticking with my DX2.
