I decided I'm going to pick one of these up. If I don't like it, I'll return to Amazon ... if I do like it I'll sell my UP3216 and pick up a second monitor down the line (unless colors on the LG are good -- who knows!) I'll post thoughts here when I get it.

Got one for 20% off on Newegg eBay. I've only had it set up for 30 minutes, so will need to use it for a while to compare ... but so far I think this is a keeper. Motion clarity with 165 Hz and variable refresh is absolutely insane and there will be no going back to 60 Hz after trying this. The hype is for good reason, if anybody else out there is on the fence. I feel like I have an aimbot on in comparison to 60 Hz and it just looks gorgeous.

However, I am definitely noticing the reduced PPI for general use. I've pushed the monitor back on my desk a bit to compensate and I think I will get over it, and it doesn't bother me at all for gaming. I ran many games at 1440p anyway so in the end those will look sharper, and games I ran at 4k, like Overwatch, get much higher frame rates now. I was originally planning to keep my UP3216Q for a while and use both, but the two monitors together are a little too big. I'll likely sell it and look for a 27" 1440p or 4k secondary monitor for more color critical work and general use.

One thing I am really liking about the VA panel are the deep black levels. IPS glow never really bothered me much but I have to admit, darker black levels are really nice.

A strike against the LG in comparison to Dell -- build quality. The stand feels flimsier, plastics less solid and professional for something so expensive. I get that this thing has the Gsync tax attached to it and I will rarely if ever touch it now that it's set up, so I forgive it.

So far, a positive review from me. This bad boy won't be going back

Speaking of which, I got accused of aimbotting with McCree in Overwatch yesterday, lol. I will repeat, motion clarity improvement over 60 Hz is insane.

No gaming but I live my 27" Dell 2750 monitor! I only run it at 60 hertz. I was going to upgrade it to a 40" 4K TV but it a little big for my desk width vs. size of the 40" I think!

I'm looking for a new monitor myself. Currently using a Samsung 40" U6290 at 60Hz as a monitor. I love it for some things, but the "Wow, that thing is BIG!" factor wore off quickly, and after a year or so, it's getting a bit annoying. I do a lot of media streaming on this monitor, and I actually find myself using the Smart TV features despite being hooked up to my PC, so I'm going to wall mount it above a curved 1440 ultrawide for the best of both worlds. I'll get GSync back, and be able to game at a much higher framerate again.

As for just downgrading in size, I found 40" about perfect. 36" would be OK too for those with less space, but after using 4K at 40", there's just no way I could do it on a 27" 4K monitor. It would annoy me to no end.
