Why is that? Revelle is supposed to be one of the 'prestigious' colleges.

Revelle is for those wishing to be stuck there for 5-6 years taking classes you'll never actually use.
There's a weighted and unweighted college gpa?Originally posted by: victoria116

<--- graduated in '00, marshall college, psychology (though working in a different field now).
love, love, LOVE the weather in la jolla (except for the one time i had to walk from warren lecture hall to galbraith in the rain...not cool.)
Muir's got all the high concrete buildings where they usually do the egg drop contest and legend has it that that's where the most suicides occur (the high buildings). never did see any myself. They also have the WORST elevators EVAR!
Marshall was ok, not the easiest (absolutely hated DOC - 'Dimensions of Culture' series), but not the hardest either (that goes unanimously to Revelle i believe). I worked the Oceanview cafe my first year; rotating shifts of bussing, dishes, cooking, and cashier. Cooking was
by far the funnest (though dishes was a riot if you were cool with the other unlucky bastard that was on dishes with you). people were cool but quirky - one girl always asked for extra lettuce with her turkey sandwich (which was to only have one slice of meat). since my shift was never too busy by the time she made it in, i would hook her up with a mound of lettuce and a slice of turkey thrown in (i really think it made her day). Another fella always ordered six scrambled egg whites in the morning. And speaking of turkey sandwiches, towards the end of the day when all the turkey is gone and people come in and ask for a turkey sandwich and you have to tell them there's no more turkey, they give you a look like you've ruined their week or something. damn.
After the cafe, i worked for a couple of psych professors who's room i was allowed to chill/sleep at between classes (it was in the basement).
Anyhow, the campus is HUGE and damn clean. grass and trees almost everywhere. a bike will do you wonders (or getting to know the people who drive the carts). RIMAC (the workout facility) is awesome and i would highly recommend taking advantage of it (hell, your tuition is paying for it). In-door rock climbing provided some decent fun as well (at the Canyonview Aquatic and Climbing Wall Facility). Torrey Pines golf course is a short drive away (if you're into that kinda thing).
In the end, i had no regrets choosing ucsd. Ask away!
(thanks for the opportunity to reminisce )

What about UCLA?

I would say, yeah, bring your car and get the parking permit simply for the convenience (you'll probably have enough stuff to worry about as it is).
Major was psych. no minor.
Favorite class had to be Physics of the Universe that was taught by Dr. Sally Ride (yeah, the astronaut and first American woman in outer space).
Worst final was general physics (smack dab in the middle of a bout of food poisoning. so much fun for the people that were around me, i'm sure).
Fun - oncamus: game room at the Price Center (kinda like a university center; had pool tables and an arcade section), basketball at RIMAC, volleyball at the Marshall dorms, those kinda things. there was also a little rec room that Marshall had that i would usually return to (small place and not many people went there, had a pool table that had a rate of $1.00 / hour, ping pong table, and some video games). I miss that place.
Offcampus - beach, downtown san diego, grunion run!, (golf) driving range to really relieve some tension. UCSD campus is kind of a ghost town during the weekend in which case you'll find all the party animals at SDSU (though i didn't participate in that myself).

He obviously got rejected from berkeley and UCLA.
UCSD = UCLA, UCB reject school.
Although a girl from my HS went UCSD pre-med full scholarship over MIT.

I actually chose ucsd over ucla (it was either more free money or seemingly less crowded at ucsd that was my final decision maker; maybe a combination of both). for others it might seem like a bad move but like i said, no regrets.
