Do you have several thousand $ burning a hole in your pocket and/or are you an oversubscribed international applicant (read: Indian)?
Yes? then possibly worth it. No? then don't waste your money.
Focus on crushing your GMAT, recommendations, and personal story (aka application essays). I applied to exclusively top 20 schools this year and got a couple admits and a waitlist without a consultant. Oddly enough, most if not all the consultants give out free advice on their websites (essay analyses, tips, strategies) that I read up on and employed myself. The applications were brutal, sure, but they can be done successfully if you've already got what it takes to knock out the 700+ GMAT, get promoted at work, have the community involvement, etc.
PM for more details if you want.
Edit: There are enough posts to read for months on MBA applications and consultants on gmatclub and its forums btw.
