If you do, can you help me install an exploit onto my memory card?

An exploit lets you run homebrew stuff on your PS2. I would do it myself but I my PS2 has the disc read error and I can't load any discs at all.

It's really easy to do. All you have to do is plug in the memory card, insert the CD I will be giving you, press a few buttons and it's done.

Of course I would have to mail you my memory card and the CD containing the exploit.

It'd be great if someone can help me do this. I'll even Paypal you some money for postage fee.

I can't post this in the FS/WTB thread because services aren't allowed.

It'll only take 2 or 3 minutes to do this.

Let me know if you can help me, thanks.

Had a modded PS2, but I got mine modded with a chip. IMO, easier and less hassle than a softmod, forgot what kind of chip it was though.

XBOX (not 360) mods are my specialty though

I modded my PS2 also but my laser died and now I can't play any of my games. I want to soft mod it so I can play upload my games to a hard drive and play.

Softmod requires a working laser. The Independence Exploit requires the PS2 be able to read a PS1 game disc.

Does this exploit allow playing backed up discs?

Yeah, if your laser isn't working, then I don't know if the exploit will work. You could however go the modchip route + network adapter and play stuff off the hard drive.

EDIT: Have you tried adjusting the laser?

After a fashion. The PS2 can recgonize a burned disc, and just will not play it. Luckily, PS2 games both DVD and CD have no copy protection on this disc so your computer can read them.

To back up games to your PS2 without a modchip you need:
PS2
Indep. Exploit on MC
PS1 game
an IDE HD
HDLoader on your memory card
hdl dumb for your PC and matching ELF for PS2 on MC

This setup will allow you to stream CD or DVD images from your PC directly to the PS2's HDD where there will be no copy protection checks thanks to the exploit and HDL.

I didnt exaclty "mod" it

I haad the old brick model and with the network adaptor installed a 120gb hard drive. With this I got a program off the net (had to buy it)

You format the hd with their cd, now when you run the cd in as the game you can copy games to the harddrive . NOT ALL GAMES WILL WORK! But 90% did (only more recent dvd9 games such as GT4 did not work)

Once you copy to hd you dont need the game discs ever again. We rented many games and just copied it and had our fun. It will still be able to play regular games too

That's what I use on my system - HD Loader. Works great!

My modchip supports Dev1 and Dev2 which directly boots from the memory card or hard drive. I just need some files installed on my memory card(not the PS1 game way).

If you can already boot from Dev1, then my recommendation is to use uLaunchELF. Very customizable GUI that will allow you to load ELFs loaded onto the card, CD, USB, etc.
