anyone got an A8N with a new gen video card?

heya.. I was just looking at some pictures of the x1900xtx wearing a accelero x2 and omg I had no idea the card was that big and that long

I have a passive heatsink installed on my a8n-e's chipset (to replace the noisy chipset fan) and I'm wondering if it's gonna interfere with the stock heatsink on the x1900xtx or the 7900gtx

i dont know if the chipset is positioned at the same place on other a8n motherboards.. but surely I must not be the only one that replaced the noisy chipset fan by a passive heatsink. So I would like to know if anyone out there does have one of the two cards listed above, and also a passive heatsink. Does it clear? It must be an awfully close call if it does.. but as long as there's room to squeeze it in there I'll be fine

I have the A8N-SLI deluxe with a zalman passive heatsink and my 7900gt fits. There's not a whole helluva lot of room, but it did fit (I was worried too since I
thought of it afterI placed my order!)

@BroadbandGamer.. do you have a passive heatsink installed on the chipset or you kept the original chipset fan?

as for dph1077, that's good to hear but the heatsink on the GT is much smaller than on the GTX from looking at the pics

If you're using the Zalman NB cooler, then I can confirm that a GTX will not fit. I had an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe with the Zalman heatsink and my card came no where close to fitting.. So, I just bought a heatpipe cooled board. =P Of course, I'm assuming the A8N-E has the same layout as the A8N-SLI Deluxe.

yes that is what i have.. what do you mean you bought a heatpipe cooled board? you mean an aftermarket cooler for the GTX? or you replaced the chipset heatsink?

had you thought of bending some of the zalman's metal thingies also? i thought maybe if i bent some of them or even tried to cut some off it might fit then

do you think the x1900xtx would fit?

I've got an A8N-E with a X1900XTX and also the Jing Ting Force chipset cooler......no problems whatsoever. I also have a cooler on my X1900XTX which hasn't hit the market yet..it's a KuFormula VF1 Plus and will be available around the 20th of this month.

I got the 8AN slie deluxe and both the stocked HIS x1900xt and the x1900xt with the accelero x2 have no problems.

Yeah I tried installing the card then realized the Zalman NB heatsink was in the way. So I figured I'd just cut a few of the metal thingies off and be done with it. Well it ended up I'd have to cut off like half of the metal thingies which didn't work too well.. So I just bought a new motherboard that was heatpipe cooled (Abit KN8-SLI). I didn't like my A8N-SLI Deluxe anyway cause it didn't overclock well at all. I bought it when they were first released and all the first generation boards had a max of like 245fsb (new versions might overclock well.. but I dunno). So I had been lookin for a reason to buy a new motherboard.

I have a 7800gt that I put an accelero x1 on today. I put it on an Asus A8N-E with a zalman nb47j, and I ended up having to cut off four of the metal pieces from the zalman so the card would fit.
