I have three university degrees. I am working full time in a not-unrelated field. And I know people too.

Three degrees, two from a "University" in one field, one from a "College" in another.

I work in a field related to the third degree, and was referred to the job by somebody I met while getting it. I live with somebody I met getting the other two degrees.

University degree, working in the field my degree is from. Know a lot of people with degrees, not working in the field their degrees are from. Most notable a friend with a degree in neuroscience from Berkeley, working in virtual machine architect job.

Yes I have a degree, I've been working full time since graduation in 1982, not in field of study.

Yup - I graduated with a chemistry degree. Went on to teach chemistry for 2 years and now working in research (both occupations were full-time). Now going onto medical school this coming year. Overall, I am satisfied with what my degree has provided me

Graduated December '81 with a computer engineering degree. Started out in hardware design, ASIC design, ASIC verification. Moved into system design, embedded software design. Moved into software project management. All full time.

I know people my age who have similar stories. Ones who have made (sometimes drastic) career changes. Some who lost their jobs and some underemployed.

My oldest son, after almost 2 years, is still trying to get a job in his uni degree, but is working full time at a decent paying job.

I have an accounting degree, but more importantly I'm tall and good looking with decent social skills, so I'm living well.

I graduated with a BS in geology right at the beginning of the 80's oil bust so my choices seemed to be do something else or go back for a masters. I ended up in IT first working operations on mainframes then programming and pretty much ended up IT jack of all trades.

Graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science in 2006. Got a job in fall of 2006 doing web design work, with tiny bit of programming (classic ASP, shudder). It was winter/spring 2007 when I got my first developer job and I've had one since. This has been in Michigan.

I have a bachelor's and a master's -- yaaaaaaaaaaa, 99% of the reason I got the second one so I can brag about it and pop my e-peen -- and was working full-time. It was a job for life in gubment, unionized, but I was underemployed and felt stupider every additional day I showed up. So, I got a lower paying, less secure job. Slightly happier.

I have an associates degree from a community college. I work at that same college in an area related to that degree.

I started working with mainframes when I was about 48 after a career change from the Military to small arms ammunition manufacturing to Computer Information Systems. When I started working at the college, I was making about $18k a year as a Mainframe Programmer in training.

I got a raise almost every year since then. I never really got rich or anything.

The world is a confusing place.

Have degree, been working in that field since I graduated. I have friends with degrees who have not worked since they graduated or have been working in totally unrelated fields.

I have a BS in biological chemistry (and in chemistry because it was just 3 extra classes due to the heavy overlap of the majors) as well as a PhD in chemistry (with a focus on biophysics/biochemistry). Currently working full-time as a postdoc in my field, but looking to move to something non-bench research.

No degree, just HS diploma. Been working full time for almost 9 years now (started in HS) with the same company. Making a good living. I work with many others who are in the same boat as well as a few with degrees working in their field of study. I am not in manual labor.
