Anyone have an Aeron or an Embody?

Tried them both, like them both. A lot. Each is special in it's own way.

Any folks own either or both able to chime in on why I should go with that particular model? The only downside I can see for the Embody is that it gets hot and stays hot during the summer whereas the Aeron releases heat much better.

on the Aeron, the mesh will eventually sag, leaving you sitting on the hard plastic rim

also the arms aren't the most durable (you can snap them off if you lean on it a bit out towards the edge)

I'm going armless either way (should have specified that) so I'm not worried about the arms.

That's a real drag about the mesh though. How long did it take for the mesh to sag for you? It's for home use but it will see about five hours of ass mushin a day. I have heard the same issue arises with the Embody. The front of the seat collapses and then your thighs are resting on the plastic. Lame.

I guess if I'm going to drop this kind of scratch on a chair (already sold on the envelop desk - yay!) I'll just get the cheaper option. Thank. You. Much.

Eh? My Aeron hasn't sagged in the 5 years I've been using it, and my fat ass^H^H^H muscular build comes at 240lbs.

Regardless of how comfortable the chair itself is, there's no substitute for the Aeron mesh. I can't stand any other material now.

Is it easy to lean/tilt back and stay that way? Supposedly that's what the envelop is designed for. It's supposed to put you into a natural leaning position with feet elevated.

the hospital i worked at had aerons all over the place....i love those damn things. they all seemed to hold up fine everywhere i saw them. if i could spend a small fortune on a chair id definitely get one

after working at the hospital where even the old office chairs were pretty decent i cant go back to a cheap chair...i got picky :-/

but i got a decent one from staples for $200. adjustable this, that and the other and pretty comfortable.

I have an Aeron at work and I love it but I could bring myself to buy one at the price...

Got a similar one from Staples for ~150. Doesn't feel quite like the Aeron but it is sturdy. The seat ergonomics is a bit off[slanted forward?] that when you sit upright, it feels as if you're sliding off the chair but it's pretty comfortable if you lean back.

The state uses Aeron for state employees. It is great. Really comfortable, though not sure if I would spend so much for a chair.

The money's already spent, in my mind. I don't really spend my money on anything else so I am cool with it and hopefully it will help with the discomfort/aches I get from sitting at the computer for so long.

I tried the standing desk setup (after having a regular desk and staples chair with problems) and while it does help me stay alert and productive, my knees feel like they are going to explode. I am on my feet at least 9 hours a day anyways so it's a bit much. I am hoping this will be the final solution.

Just today i heard something fall to the floor. It was the wedge-shaped cushion at the very front of the seat that had come unglued and fallen out.

Maybe I got a 'lemon' chair, but needless to say, I'm not impressed

I love my Aeron at work. It really helps prevent any aches and pains.

I get pains after about 2 hours of using my office chair at home. I can sit in my Aeron at work all day without any problems.
