Yea, people might think a Cadillac is as unreliable as a Mercedes. Would not want to tarnish Cadillac's image.
Uh yea... have you seen the problems with this generation's CTS? Check out their forums... even basic stuff like Steering which I don't know if it was ever fixed.
I own a CTS and have even helped others at the Cad forums. The only major problems with the first Gen CTS was the Rear Diff seal (05-07 covered by recall by the seal maker), ink wears off on the Nav, and the 03 3.2 motor and timing belt issues. There is one recall right now in salt states for front brake lines but even then its more a non-issue.
Any other problems I have seen have been isolated and not over the whole line.
Mercedes on the other hand has issues all over the place. I like the way they look but would only own one if they removed the drivetrain/guts and put something from a reliable car line like Cad/Lex/etc.. in there.

Here we go again... you've got a bit of tape holding your nose to your forehead.
Just priced the new E350 with some options and it's 63k with 4matic, premium 2 package, folding seat, wood steeling wheel, panorama sunroof, night vision, chrome door handle inserts, rear side airbags, walnut trim and ipod integration kit.
I saw one today at the dealership and it was $56,000 with premium package & NAV. She won't care about the panorama sunroof. What is 4matic? If it's AWD she won't care about that either.
This car will spend its life in SoCal going between the South Bay and Palm Springs.
what is too stuffy?
A Mercedes XXX###.
Just tell the mother-in-law she needs to buy a new Corvette. Deal, done.
cls550 - looks good .. the 550 are better than 500s ... thats about it .. the navigation is amazingly subpar - google ...
