anyone have any experience with the Nokia 3390 phone?

i dont know about voicestream or any other cell phone services that use this phone ... but i would strongly recommend not using Cingular if you are thinking about it.

you live in Texas so i dont know... but Cingular has been sucking at S.California lately. The phone is nice... i have several friends who own them... but Cingular is just that bad down here.

All my friends have that phone and are happy with it. The battery life seems shorter than my 8260 but only marginally. 3360-3390 have NiMH and 8260-8290 have Li-ion's. The 3390 also has IR which is cool for such a low priced phone.

ACtually, the 3390 does NOT have IR, I am holding it in my hand right now. It is a nice phone though...I use it in Central Florida with Voicestream and the reception seems pretty good. Battery Life is great, and it has a lot of features.

I would agree that Cingular is not the greatest provider... although it is getting better around here (they had growing pains in this area...SC). Anyway, I have a 3390. For the price, it is a great phone. I find it to be just the right size... not too small that you constantly forget where you put it, but not too big that it is unweildy. I don't believe it has IR either, but it has a lot of nice features for the money. Sometimes I wish it was built a little more sturdly, but I guess that is what comes with these removable face plates and all.

I have the phone, I like it, I've always had Nokia phones and they've always been good.. this one is the same.

3390 has great battery life... I actually talked for 4.5 hrs straight once (from full charge) just to test the battery life on a NiMH. so you won't have to worry about this aspect.
reception is normal, nothing special.
options a plenty on this phone, some of which you won't use, but it's just handy, and kinda fun to play around with.
ring loudness, IT GETS REALLY LOUD!!! it probably has the loudest ring I've ever heard.
voice quality is not as good as some other phones... but then, it's only a phone, so if you're not picky about how it sounds as long as you hear it... you'll love this phone.

definately a VERY practical and very good phone for personal use...
very good price as well...

btw, I sold my 3390 after a week because it was too bulky my friend loves his though...

What is this IR that you guys mentioned?

I am currently using an 8260. My plan is about to expire so I'm going to dump the plan and get a new phone. Currently most companies are offering the 3390 as the free phone so that's why I'm asking. Thanks for the input all.

I have the phone. So far so good.

There are some gripes i have with it though. Your profile name gets mangled should the battery die on you. the buttons are also easy to press, so it's easy to get the keypad lock off when it's in your pocket.

There's no IR port, but there's a composer, which I like. I wrote the Chocobo theme song for it. hehe

it's durable too. It has rounded edges which helps when you drop it.
