Anyone have any experience with those Bazooka Amplified Tube Subwoofers?

I want something that I can take in and out and doesn't take up much space. These seem like they would fit the bill. I listen to mostly rock. No rap. Thoughts?

I don't think they've changed much since the last time I heard them about 10 years ago. They sucked then, probably still suck now. Get a decent 8 or 10 inch sub in a sealed enclosure and about a 200 watt amp in three way mode to drive your sub/mids/tweets and you'll be set. As soon as I get some free time, I'm gonna build a fiberglass enclosure for a a DVC 8" sub I have and get a decent amp to drive the sub and the polk 5x7's in the doors of my Tacoma.

I put an amplified tube in my wife's Accord (Audiobahn, not Bazooka). It definitely doesn't sound as good as the box/sub/amp combo in my truck but it does help fill out the bottom end some. Like you, I was concerned about both space and ability to remove it if needed, and it fits that bill.

bazooka's aren't terrible. What mostly happens is people don't set them up right or feed them the wrong type of signal.

Directed makes a 8'' sub, marketed for Sirius, decent sound, very affordable, and doesn't take much space at all.

If you are going to get an all-in-one I would get an infinity basslink. If you are going to put a small 10" in a sealed box I would get an Alpine Type R and something like one of the Profile audio amps or something else not too expensive.

I'll 2nd an Infinity Basslink but a properly set-up Bazooka 10" will thump hard!

Most issues with these is a lack of wattage.

Ugh, they sound so terrible. Thump hard? Really? Are you nuts?

Infinity basslink would be a better idea.

I had a Bazooka 8" (I think) in my Eclipse (it's in my garage now). For the price I paid, $60 on sale, and the ease of installation, it did the job very well. It's not the perfect complement to a great sound system, but I had a cheapo stereo with cheapo speakers and no bass at all. It turned it into a respectable sounding system.

I may install it in my boat this summer since it's sitting around doing nothing. I'm sure the Basslink sounds better but it's much more expensive as well.

I have a basslink II and this is what people tell me

"WHAT? you got subs in this car? wtf?"

I have an SUV. Maybe that's why. It's too small for my car.

Hmm, I actually have an amp I could use from my old car. I was looking at standalone subs and enclosures and was wondering if there is a benefit of getting an tube enclosure like this over a box enclosure like this. I still like the idea of a self contained unit though so i'm not really sure what I'm going to do.

I was actually thinking of putting the amp under the passenger seat and just putting speaker wire to the trunk. That way I can take it out easily and not have to worry about having a live 12v wire rolling around.

Do you have it turned on?

My Basslink (first version) is quite noticeable in my Grand Cherokee.
