Anyone have any tips on shaving? Razor burn is a bitch.

Trumper, Taylor, Truefitt & Hill, Coates, Proraso, Nancy Boy...

There's a number of manufacturer's and some of them are more than happy to send you samples (I've gotten them from Trumper and Truefitt). Trumper was the best that I have used (their coconut smells good enough to eat) but is way too expensive for me. Nowadays I go with Taylor.

mach 3 razor. Shaving gel for sensitive not shaving cream. Also shave in the shower or right when you get out while skin is still moist

if anyone cares,

i got a gillette super speed '54 or '53, some blades, proraso shaving cream, nivea sensitive skin ASB, and a badger brush. hopefully all of it will be in by this week, that'd be great.

i'll let you guys know how it goes. for a pre shave i was thinking i'd just use some cheap conditioner in the shower.

Wow lots of good info here. Maybe I'll make the switch from electric, certainly doesn't seem to give me the closest shave.

You can tell from all the replies that it's a truly personal "what worked for me" thing. No one answer is right for everyone. I tried just about everything mentioned in this thread except a straight razor (not willing to be that meticulous) and still had razor burn. Eventually I just grew a beard, and shave the neckline every 2-3 days. If I do it every day, I still get razor burn.

You have to try different things and see what works for you.
