how loud is the projector fan?

can't hear it at all. the only thing i can hear is when there is no sound in the movie i'm watching and i can hear the amp that powers my subs. it's back behind the seating area in a closet, though so while it's audible it's not very loud at all. needless to say i rarely hear it because i rarely have a dead silent part in a movie. and there is virtually no silent parts in any video games i play.

Went to one in the high end mall like place in Austin (the Domain). Really felt like I was being gouged the whole time.

We have two seating options, premium and super premium. With super premium you get waitservice, a reclining chair and we'll bring a blanket in.

The AC is cranked pretty low so you start wondering about the blanket option. No reason at all they couldn't have waitservice in the cheap section.

I'll take the Alamo Drafthouse over it any day.

Excuse my ignorance, I haven't lived in an area where basements are required since I was 7 or so.....

What is with the "windows?"

Also, if your woman can yell at you to take the trash out or to do the dishes, it isn't a luxury cinema.

I went to one of these theaters in Omaha a few years ago. We didn't know that's what it was before we got there, so we'd already eaten. Therefore, we didn't have anything but some soda or something.

But it seemed like a neat idea I guess. It was a little distracting but not too bad.

I don't mind these places, however, they aren't exactly as luxurious as that picture puts it out to be.

The one's I have been to are more like:
1) Same seats as a normal theater
2) Same sticky floors as a normal theater
3) Just as close to the other seats/people
4) The only difference: There is a tiny table in front of you for a waiter to place shitty beer with shitty fatty food on it.

I'm all for fatty foods like some good wings/fries/burger, but if it taste's like shit it's not worth the calories or money to consume. The general idea, however, is decently smart. For those that don't know, theaters make most of their profit from the food/drinks. I'm surprised they don't do pat down's for people that sneak in food these days. So bringing in alcoholic beverages for profit and keeping away annoying kids is probably a decent idea to bring people like me back to theaters.

Like i said though, they fail to impress. There is potential if the right group can get some half ass decent drinks/food, and also manage to clean the fockin floors.

I been to the AMC theaters, iPic Theaters.

I been going to the iPic for a while, good food, good service, great sound and screens, nice big comfy seats, blanket and pillow. Also nice to have an alcoholic beverage to drink.

AMC Theaters seats are comfy, food was a real let down though it was just slightly better than normal theater quality, service wasn't as good either, it just was not the same as iPic. It did cost less though and it is better than a standard movie experience. But for me, if I am going to spend the money, I want to enjoy it.

I go to the Cinebistro. It is quite enjoyable and it brought me back to the watching movie. Much higher caliber employees, and movie goers. Totally different experience.

Anyhow we average (Me and the Wife) spending about 100-120 per viewing (ie on drinks, food etc..)

Wow that sucks. not my experience at all. It is like First class 747-400 British Airways VS commuter airplane coach experience.

so..you went to a normal theater.

The experience was the same as the photo. Not something mandatory, but certainly not like a regular show.

Ill put up with quiet pretentious people over stoned giggling teenagers if i have to choose.

Although its not worth thinking about it too much, as only one movie per year gets me excited enough to see in a theater.

I may have shown up in a decent ride but I happily let a gift card eat up the ticket price and 3oz of my first beer.

This March it will be the tenth anniversary that the wife and I stopped going to the public theaters. We have been enjoying our home theater for a decade now. Until you try it (if you can afford to, that is), it will change your life. Even our first home theater had a presentation in sight and sound that easily surpassed most theaters in our state.

The ten foot wide 2.4 aspect acoustical screen was probably our best investment and has outlived projectors.
I would love to have a theater room but it is out of reach for most people. I doubt I'll ever be able to afford that in SoCal unless I never have kids.

Yeah, you're not describing Cinepolis: http://www.cinepolisusa.com/ The pictures are exactly how the theaters look like inside.

1) The seats are nice, electric leather recliners.
2) There's actually a low pile carpet through the whole theater.
3) Again, giant seats as you can see in the photos. A max of 10 seats in a row so it's spread out and you're far away from the people in front and behind.
4) Tables swing over and the food is actually quite upscale. Here's the menu of the Cineopolis near me: http://www.cinepolisusa.com/docs/Website Menu.pdf

Whatever theater you went to, it has no comparison to Cinepolis or real luxury type theaters.
