I bought the Dell Vostro+N97 deal for $699.

I opted to sell the laptop because i didnt need it, but oh well.

I have a E71 currently, but just got the N97 for a great deal, so i decided to keep it.

How is the phone like ? quality, feel and the usability of the touch screen ?

I would like to know...thanks !

I was very excited for the N97, being a former N95'er myself, but the reviews I remember reading were less than stellar on the operating system. I guess even optimized for the N97, S60 still feels dated. Hardware is incredible though.

I'm holding my N97 and this is the 4th one.
1st one from Nokiausa is not perfect, keyboard light missed a few on left. Sold my 2nd and 3rd until the 4th one I bought from Dell and it's good. Many people had issue because of the camera lens.

After update to lastest firmware few days ago, the screen touch much better and it's almost 90% touch like Iphone.
GPS lock instantly compare to 30s to few min before.
App load faster and more ram available.

Even though I like my N97 but I'm willing to sell it anytime for a good offer. The device is good but the price vs spec could be better.

Around 400ish will be a good price to jump on this phone.

N900 is in somebody's hands. Not mine obviously, but some people are using it. Apparantly this is the phone the N97 should have been.
They didnt use Android (which I was hoping for) but they did rip off some of the cool things Android has, like a sliding desktop with widgets and stuff. But of course this doesnt have the Android Marketplace and thats reason enough for me to pass on it. I love Nokia bodies more than any other brand, but they need to get with a modern OS like WebOS, iPhone and Android have done. A unified system with assloads of customers encourages programmers to develop lots of apps. Nokia needs to jump in on that concept or they'll be left behind.

I'd like to say from my p!ss poor attempt at trying to get it connected to the wifi at home it's f0cking lame...took me ages to work out how to get to the 'settings' for the generic phone to enable it to connect to the home wifi.

interface was clunky as well, slow, no real feedback, felt disjoint from moving it,t he web interface is lame relative to the iPhone. You definitely need zoom pinch to make the net much better on a device with a small screen.

No way in hell would I buy one. The battery life is almost certainly better then my iPhone, better camera and it takes video

The N97 or the N900?

Sorry in my rage I forgot to mentiont he actual phone. The N97.

It was such a lame phone, not responsive and surfing the net on it was RUBBISH due to the lame browser...took me about 15minutes to work out how to get to the general 'settings' menu...

Its generally been agreed that one of two things needs to happen: Either Symbian has to make a complete revamp of their mobile OS to be more competative with WebOS, Android, and mobile Mac, OR..... Nokia needs to adopt WebOS or Android, or maybe come up with their own super OS.
Either way they cant use an old piece of software to power modern hardware. Its just not going to be useful and it wont sell.

1. They have Maemo, which is fairly slick looking and very powerful.
2. Both Maemo and Symbian and getting a significant overhaul within the next year.
3. Symbian is in a better position than blackberry and windows mobile, imo.
