Yes and no. There are lots of hereditary diseases that one might want to know if one had a family history of. It's true that you can't do anything about a lot of them but you can for others. For example if your family is riddled with breast cancer then it would be prudent to know so that you could get more frequent breast exams (same with other cancers). Even if you look after yourself perfectly genes still play a big role.
