I delt blackjack for over 2 years with a 4 deck shoe and lost 4 times as a dealer total.
when I play the money is gone, if you double it walk away and dont come back that night, you will lose it and more.
if you think the dealer cant change the cards you are wrong we can there are tricks with the shuffle we can do that are legal to make you lose.

Illegal? Illegal? What law says it is illegal to win in a casino? Answer: none.

Card counting breaks no laws. But since the casinos have the right to ban anyone, they will just ban the people who are good card counters, or who use hidden computers to help them count cards. The way card counting works is you adjust your bets depending on how many "10" cards are left in the shoe, so over time the casino can easily tell if you are counting.

It is illegal in some states to use ANY system to beat the odds. At the very least you get black listed and banned from entry.

Gambling is stupid. It's just another legal 'drug' of which we have too many already.

A smart player recognizes when it's "his turn" to start winning and starts betting higher, then when the house starts winning, he lowers his bet. This is NOT a sure fire way to win, but it's the way pro's do it. They count the cards and can figure out just when it's their turn to start winning. Sadly, I've lost $2 in my lifetime gambling.

"Progression" - you can actually work BJ in your favor by a vig (vigorish) of 2-3% if you can count cards with any proficiency and have amazing self control. Very few people have this talent and ability and that's why it's a big money maker for the casinos. But not as much as the slots ... stay away from slots ... away ... far away.

In Vegas it isn't illegal to count cards but it IS definately illegal if you use a hidden computer. Using a computer and not your brain is big time cheating.

Anyone interested in Blackjack should read Olaf Vancura or even Stanford Wong. A great newsgroup is alt.rec.blackjack on usenet. (IIRC)

Read parts of their books. Good stuff. Not really a worthwhile pursuit though, UNLESS you could put together an entire team and had a large bankroll to kick things off with. Team Blackjack is the only way to go, it has many advantages over doing it alone. However the big disadvantage is greed. People in the team would probably have fights over money. The biggest challenge in the beginning would be getting everyone trained, it would take months to get an entire Blackjack team trained and it would cost a lot of $$$ too if you had a pro train you.

The reason why the MIT team was so successful was #1 they had a professional card counter train them. #2 they were all geeks so none of them was trying to take all the cash and run. #3 the guy who trained them also bankrolled them a lot of money in the beginning.

"dealer has a 6 showing, and i have a 14, ill take a hit! ahhh, a 10, i busted!" (me thinking, there goes the dealer bust-card)

Actually this is complete BS. Over the long run the strategy of any other player at the table does not affect either your hand or the dealers. The outcome is still the same. The only thing you get out of it is somebody else to blame if you lose a hand.

Yep, that is just one of many myths that players believe about Blackjack.

Anyone else have a hard time following his second sentence?
And I am curious about these legal shuffles... Given that the player cuts the card, and you don't know how many people are playing, how can you be sure the player will get the losing cards and not you? Sorry, what you said just doesn't make sense...

Well, if your good with Blackjack ,, stay with it,, do not play Roulette,, I watch my friends loss thousands in couple of minute,, I lost like $300 cause that all I brought.. We bet on red and it's Black, in 10 straight games it was still at Freaking black.... man that totaly sucks for us and all the other people that saw "wooo, 9 blacks,, must bet on red"

I'm never gonna play Roulette again, it's blackjack for me,, wins $1500, lost $500, so I'm still winning.. But Roulette, lost $300 in the first 2 minute of walking in the Casino.
