Huh. Years ago they wouldn't install 18s on our WRX.
Might be luck of the draw - I've read conflicting information on what they will or won't install, so it may vary depending on what store you go to and what tech you get.

+1 for Costco. They have replaced the tires on all our cars for more years than I care to count. I often have to order the tires and then schedule installation once they are delivered. I always do some serious Costco shopping while the work is being done.

I've shopped their prices on tires from time to time but Discount Tire has always beat them on the tires I wanted. Also, Costco hasn't had the tires I wanted in stock either.

I agree with the general consensus. I have gotten tires from Costco. Last time, my dealer said they would price match, so I went with them.

I have bought tires from them in the past. They carry quality tires, they are a good deal. They do free rotations.

Costco just called that they have my tires. I asked to make an appointment and they told me they are booked about a week out, but best to come during the work week. Average time is about an hour / hour- twenty for install during weekdays. I asked f they can squeeze me in tonight but they have a few cars ahead, and the last thing I want is a rush job install. I'll try my luck tomorrow after work

local costco is in the same center as a bw3. drop car off, eat crappy wings, drink local beer, pick car up. easy peasy.

and appointments? f yeah.

I got tires from Costco once, and never did it again. The wait time for rotations & nitrogen refills was just awful. I will give them another shot now that they make appointments now.
nitrogen refills are just to get you back in the store. it's complete snake oil.

IMHO there are few reasons not to at least try Costco:

1.) You're not a member (duh)
2.) Last I checked, they won't install non-OEM sizes
3.) They don't do alignments

Other than that I've never heard any complaints.
an alignment is what? $100? just go get one.

I think they "prioritize." I can get new tires in an hour or two, but getting a rotation is like a 4-6 hour wait.

I usually have the oil change place rotate the tires too, instead.
I am costco member but that was the same issue I had, length of time to do rotations. No way was I going to wait hours for a rotation.

I've bought my tires the last 20 years from Americas Tire. They priced matched the Radial TAs I wanted from Costco
and the wait on rotations is generally 30-60 minutes.
I guess outside CA they are known as Discount Tire.

I always make an appointment at Discount Tire. Always in and out of there in 30-40 minutes for a complete tire change.

Tires cannot be rotated on my car.

By the way, I have little loyalty to any particular tire establishment, I would use Costco if they were competitive on price but they just aren’t. They never have the tires I want in stock and they are more expensive than Discount Tire.

We buy all of our tires from DiscountTireDirect

I've shopped their prices on tires from time to time but Discount Tire has always beat them on the tires I wanted.

Same here and I can sometimes find places online that sell tires cheaper than Discount Tire. I keep checking Costco and Sams Club for tires since people keep saying they buy their tires there but their prices never seem to be competitive for what I am looking for.

On long laps on the track, they'll need it, but for the typical person I agree. The air we breathe is already nearly 80% nitrogen. Rest is a mix of oxygen and fart. Sometimes the other way around.

I'm a Costco member, and our 2015 Highlander needs a new set of tires. I did a ton of research and checked out tirerack, and the general consensus is the Michelin Defenders are the best choice.

Dealer quoted my $1,154 out the door.
Costco.com is quoting me $826 installed before tax (so about $900 out the door).

Quite the delta! So I'm wondering if anyone here used their tire service before? If their service is anything like the store itself, it should be a safe bet. Plus they offer free tire rotations, balancing, and repairs for the life of the tire you buy.

Do it. I've done it 4 times (2 at Sams and 2 at Costco). I've found that if you're buying a name brand make and model you're just fine. If you walk in wanting the cheapest tire they have, you're going to be disappointed when you give it to you - even if it's from a name brand.

I've gone thru Costco in the past but they carry tires for my current vehicle. I went the tirerack route and really happy with the experience. Ordered tires tax free and had them shipped directly next day to a recommended local tire shop which installed them for $84. Even adding the the $55 shipping cost. I saved over $100 compared to anybody else, even one's that would price match 200% the difference in prices with tirerack.

I buy tires from tire stores vs. Sam's or Costco. Many will lower their price if you have a price that is cheaper, plus Discount Tire has lots of perks, free flat repair (replace if un-fixable), air pressure checks, free rotations and balancing, and even replaced a TPS sensor when they fixed a slow leak at the tire bead.... for free.

The tires on my Camaro are the factory originals. The passenger rear tire picked up a nail and went flat. I took it to discount tire and they fixed the flat, replaced the valve stem, re-balanced the tire, and filled the other 3 at no charge.

I'm pretty sure if tire is not repairable due to road hazard damage, free tire replacement is not included at Discount Tires. At Costco, free road hazard insurance is included with every tire purchase and installation.

You have to buy replacement certificates separately with Discount Tire.

That's what I thought. I had 4 nails in one of my tires on my LX470. I took it to Discount Tires and couldn't get it patched because one of the nail was too close to the tire sidewall. I had to buy brand new tire even though the old tire only had couple hundred miles on it. If I had purchased the tires at Costco, the new replacement tire would've been free. But since I did not, I was out of luck and I paid the full price for the replacement tire at Discount Tires.

All the time. Put a new set on the truck last summer. Took the wife three months to run over a metal screw (screw designed for metal work). It was more on the tread than the sidewall. I took it in with the intentions of just buying a replacement tire. Costco replaced it for free.

and you're already there so you might as well go in and get a big pack of salmon and a chicken.
