GFX cards really aren't that interesting any more. The slowing down of silicon and NV being so relentlessly competent render the chance of any real surprises in the near term essentially nil.
A bit like CPU's but at least still getting about +30-35%/annum. Also essentially nil chance of getting an outright bad card nowadays. Really baffling quite why they raise so much tribal passion.
Maybe 5(7?) years of 'easy' annual increases left, then we'll see.
VR is definitely a whole new genre but we've also had entire genres of games nearly go extinct then reappear in recent years with kick starter etc. The variety of games, of all sorts, available nowadays really is pretty astonishing.
