Have you guys thought about leasing? I'm getting some very attractive monthly payments. For instance, the Xterra is only $275 a month with $4700 down and with a 15,000 mile limit. In addition this is for 39 months. Oh, the estimated price of the Xterra is $27,000

not bad..

I am looking into buying a G35 myself.

350Z is raw and more sexy, but G35 is more refined

Good luck

I think the 350z is a better looking car than the g35 coupe. BTW I hate both of their exhaust notes with a passion, it sounds awful.

Yea that might be an issue. I'll be 35 years old in September and I have zero points. If I had to guess I'd say my car insurance will be close to $2000 I live in NJ btw.

I hope that's a typo... you're 35 years old and you're going to ask your parents to help you out in buying a new car?

It's going to be part of a graduation present. I don't see anything wrong with this as all there going to do is help me with the down payment. That's it.

I'm 24 and I just don't feel right asking my parents to help me buy a car that I don't really need. If I really needed a car and need my parents help in buying it, I would just buy a civic.

My father had offered this this present to me a couple of months ago. He knows what I am going through and he has a lot of respect that I sacrified part of my life to go back to college. Its not easy to go back to college when your 30 years old and work full time. Thank god I don't have any children yet.

it sounds like music to me! if you don't like it, get a new exhaust.

for about the same price you could get a subaru wrx sti, that thing is a beast. i do like the looks of the 350z better though, but for the money i'd go for the sti.

Are you sure you want to burden yourself financially before you have a steady job? Well... I guess with a special education degree, you're usually out with a job already at that point in many programs. I had a few friends that either looked into it or actually did it.

Don't make the mistake of buying this car as your daily driver unless your commute will be very short. The 350 is a good car for the money but it is a "tiring" car to drive. I don't own one but the day I spent floggin it around an autoX course... it wasn't a very easy car to drive fast and even not driven fast, it just didn't feel as "easy" as a Lexus IS300 or BMW 3-series. I honestly don't know if the G35 is similar in driving feel but if it steers the same way... ugh. So when you test drive it... make sure you make it a decent trip out. And definitely compare it to some of it's direct competition like the Mazda RX8 (which happens to be much more liveable).

I honestly could never bring myself to buy a brand new car... too much Ferengi blood. The thought of leasing (ie never actually owning a car) seems only attractive if I had enough disposable income for a lease every 2-3 years. But you won't own a car and you can't modify it... that would kill me.

I guess. I'm a huge Nissan fan though. Just about every car that I've ever owned has been a Nissan.

Unless your parents are going to pay the insurance, not a wise choice for a car.

Father has one, 2003 Touring Edition. Drives nice.

You'd be better off in a car that can hold you and 3 other people and that costs less money.

EDIT:
1. With gas prices out of control right now, think about fuel economy too.

2. CONGRATS on going back to school and getting it done.

So basically what we're all getting at is, get a BMW M5. Seats 5 people, accelerates and handles better than the 350z, and at a fraction of the cost!

That fraction being 8/3.

Yeah me too! :Q

Man, what's so shocking?

I drove a Mazda6 and wasn't impressed...What's the big deal?

EDIT: And I definitely wasn't impressed with the last Maxima I drove (2001 I think).

I have my fast car and my day to day honda... I almost got a BMW 540i instead of the TL, but that 20k difference really gets ya.

I will never buy a 350z because of its rear end, looks completely wrong to me.
