Anyone here ever renew a British passport while living and working in USA?

I have a couple questions for you please. Trying to help my Dad renew his British passport (dual Citizen) and have a couple questions if I may.

Anyone here with dual Citizenships that had to renew their British passport from a foreign Country?

No, but I think you can usually renew foreign passports at the respective country's embassy as long as you have the proper identification requirements.

For my Country I have to renew it for my Dad online. I know that.

I had some questions about the type of supporting documents needed to prove that he is not residing in the UK. I was thinking a few utility bills (not mentioned on the website but could it hurt?), color photo copies of social security cards (JP stamped and certified) and a voters ID card. Should be enough?

Was just hoping someone here actually been through the process many times that could give me their 2 cents of advice.

My wife had to renew her Canadian passport and she just contacted the embassy in DC. The most difficult part of the process was the photo. Evidently Canada has some very detailed requirements for the passport photo and it is hard to get it done correctly in the US. We had to search for a place that specifically said they could do Canadian passport photos. Living in the DC metro area made that a bit easier.

The embassy here has been NO HELP! They just tell me to refer to the website and go from there.

That is my concern here as well. The British are very strict with the passport photos as well. Yesterday, I called 4 places to see if they have much experience with British passport photos. I will print out the form from the UK website to show them what exactly is called for concerning the photographs.

Somebody on another website told me that there is a strike in the passport office going on now and it might take 3 months to get the passport more or less. My dad wants to travel with it for Christmas.
