I don't ever want to take an intelligence test. If it says I'm smarter than everyone, I'll just turn into a pompous asshole. If it says I'm stupid, I'd be really depressed.

Regarding MENSA: I'm sorry if this offends any current MENSA members, but everytime I see one on TV I think that they're fvcking idiots.

Case in point: I'm watching the Doctor Phil show (yes, I watch it. STFU) and there's this guy who's been unemployeed for ever a year or two. The guy has a masters degree, can do accounting and IT stuff based on his previous experience. He was also a member of MENSA. He got laid off from his job when the economy stumbled though.

His family has to sell all of their belongings and their house and they move in with the wife's sister. Meanwhile, what is this dude doing? He buys a new LAPTOP computer and rents a trailer with a desk to sit on the side of the road and I guess let people know he was looking for work with some stupid sign. WTF was this suppose to do? He turned down opportunities for crappy jobs like lawn mowing. Mow the FVCKING LAWN you idiot, its going to help your family more than sitting on the side of the road all jerking off on your brand new laptop.

If that guy is an example of this group, then I'm going to have to say that its just a place for people to sit around and pretend to be better than everyone else.

I know this is going to sound weird but I was in a internship/co-op fair on campus and I was in line for Wachovia and my friend was in line for IBM. He put MENSA in his resume and the dude from IBM was like "Wow, you are in MENSA? Let me highlight that!"... well guess what, he got an internship in IBM although his GPA was lower than 3.0/4.0

I think these groups are a scam I remember taking a test for MEGA (higher iq required the MENSA, but well known among the high iq community apparently) and I was bored with the test so I just skipped every Math question after the first 10 or so because I hate doing simple math without my TI89 (it was a time based test). Still scored in the low 130's, which was enough to q.

I'm in Mensa. No biggie. It's easy to get in with high GRE or SAT scores. No need for IQ test. I've been in since I was 15.

Think you are talking about the gifted program, but any of those more or less are equally difficult at any age.

I was tested at around 12 and 15 and my score was within point. I took the 'mensa' test and ranked high enough...the requirement is that a professional must administer if the results are to be accepted.

There is a lot of benefit's in mensa, many very very rich people are in that group and like any group their is sharing within the 'club'. And like like any club with a closed door policy to outsiders, they get called snotty/snobby/elitest by others not included.

If I get time I may have it administered professionally.

Another question I have is WTF are these invites? There is a sliding scale, the top 2% of IQ at the time of the test. Not exactly easy to send out an invitation to these people and degrees or profession have no bearing on IQ.

Are these just 'suggestions' to join? Also where are you meeting these people that are in 'it' as a group.

One of my aunts is in Mensa, has a paid for condo by them....maybe it's different for those with money, I don't know, but the people I met in Chicago were anything but snobish or dull...sure they didn't care for muddin' or lounging, but hey neither am I.
