15 years ago i was a Truck driver in the UK, now i am in IT Projects and infrastructure as a contractor, earning 50x what i was then without the long hours and early starts.

I think thats quite a radical change

Yes. I got discharged from the Navy.
Going back to civilian life was pretty radical to me.
I actually had to rework my brain.

Civilians dont get tasks done the same way as sailors.

NOT SAYING ITS BETTER OR WORSE!

Just different.

Out of the Navy, now working at the University. Bills are paid, and we seem to have more money now than I did in the Navy, despite me making quite a bit more. Bills are paid, wife is happy, I'm starting college soon... Can't complain. I've only been out on the Navy for 4.5 months though, so I don't know when you call it pulling it off, but things are stable...

I've gone from engineering to nursing in the past 5 years. It was a really good decision for me, I'm much happier in the new career. Engineering had become more increasingly dull over the years as I progressed from production to the corporate cubicle farm.

Nursing is anything but dull.

I went from the health care field (respiratory therapist) to IT and being a DBA after getting a MIS degree It took about 3 years of moving up the food chain but I have obtained a decent job and a decent wage more than I was making in health care for half the amount of work

I'll let ya know in a couple of years. Spent 30+ years as a crane and heavy equipment operator. About to start schooling in architectural drafting for vocational rehabilitation. (injured worker stuff)

working on it. I am in IT (sys admin) and im sick of it but not the pay . anyway 2 years ago i graduated from massage therapy school and im building my private practice. slowly but it is growing. will ever equal what i am making now? probably not but i love doing massage therapy and helping people.

keep the happy ending comments to yourself, i dont do that.

Used to pull frames on cars for a living now I am the IS Director for our local county sheriff's office/dentention center.
