I drank all the time in college, but never got anywhere near the point of waking up on someone's front lawn afterwards.

I don't think I've had a weekend where I don't get completely sh!tfaced.
Weekends are my time to play catch-up on homework. Getting drunk would interfere with that.
And, the idea of losing any self-control is quite unappealing to me. I like to retain what control over my mind I do have.
But what doesn't do anything for me may not be relevant to anyone else.

sounds like a fun time.

I drink 2-3 nights a week. I don't always drink to get drunk, but I usually get a decent buzz. If any type of smoking is involved I get screwed up.

There are guys in my fraternity that never drink alongside guys that drink every day. It's a personal choice, however I think everyone should experiment a little bit to see what's out there.

That's crazy, cause everytime I go to Madison that is all there is to do up there

But yeah, I haven't gotten drunk in a while... probably about 4 weeks ago when I was last in Madison. I don't get "drunk" too often maybe once a month, but I will drink about once or twice a week.

It's more of a social thing if anything, if you are doing it by yourself, then you got a problem

I didn;t drink in college, I had a port surgically implanted so that I could pour beer straight into my stomach, just so I could get drunk that much quicker.

Well I diverted my beer money towards spiffing up the apartment so I can do stuff here.

The whole "wimmenz" aspect of it didn't matter to me until two months ago when my fiancee left me after 4.5 years. Oh well, that's the way it goes I guess. Now I just need to find some other losers who don't think going out drinking is the thing to do every weekend. I've met a few people around here that seem to think that

I thought that being a hardened alcoholic was a requirement for admission at UW-Madison.

I think it's more of a graduation requirement. I'm going to have to try to get around that somehow.

If you didn't you probably didn't miss much. Except maybe the random flirtation with girls, random hooking up with girls, waking up the next day and vomiting- all day...etc.

i couldnt disagree more. if you didnt/dont drink in college, you are missing out on a ton. i cant put it into words, but if you wont do it, you are missing out on things you will never have a chance to do ever again. people that go out and have a few drinks on the weekend are the most interesting and fun people i've met.

All the good college stories start with "Well, we had been drinking quite a bit that night and decided it would be a good idea to try and......"

Alcoholism runs in my family, I'm on antidepressants, it's expensive, and I can have just as much fun without the negative reprecussions without it.

Like some poster said, it's an excuse for people to do crap they wouldn't normally do, such as cheat on their boyfriend/girlfriend. Personally, I find that disgusting.

The ignorance is strong with this one....

Heh, how so?

All of the "mistakes" I ever hear of happens at a so-drunk-you-can't-walk party.

Most young adults/teenagers would have far better lives if they didn't drink (totally IMO).

If by "better" you mean more law abiding and not doing dumb things I agree. But I would argue that a "better" life includes having crazy experiences, doing stupid things, and having fun. Sure you don't have to drink to do any of those things, but if you've never got drunk with your buddies and just did the stupidist things b/c they seemed smart when you were toasted, then I think you are missing out on experiences. But to each his own. I've never spend 60 hours a week playing WOW but I'm sure that has a lot of fun all it's own...come to think of it, I should try that too some time. Perhaps while dirnking?

Im 22 and still at community college and living at home so I dont drink very often. I get the feeling that once I transfer out to a 4 year university and get my own place I might start partying more.

It's funny, because many people feel that way.

Let me tell you...you paid LOTS of money to do something that you could have done for free.

Someone above said that they wouldn't hire someone who wasn't a drunk and partied all the time in college. ...I would hate to work at his company, because he probably employs a lot of losers. Alcohol is fine in moderation, but not when you are plastered.
