I bought the game last Christmas and finally opened it last night (on xbox). How can I find "good" players to play with?
Suprised for all the hate.. so many "dont play it anymore" yet you came in here to comment? Huge fan of both games, incredibly fun when played as a TEAM (99% of the games are not, disapointing, but far more challangeing). I prefer 2 with the new infected (especially in VS) the melee is OP for sure.. but so was non stop knockback in 1. I do find after 2 that going back to 1 is quite a challange, you start to understand how depenednet you where on melee. Also maybe its jsut me, all the guns in 1 seem far more random when shooting.. long range kneeling shots just dont seem to connect the way they do in 2. Which in the end is maybe better, it makes the game much harder (of course any smart player is never so far away from a team mate you need to shoot great distances).
Of course all is not well in L4D land even for a person who plays it all the time.
Far to many "throwables" MANY of the finals where you just sit and shoot have so many gas cans/pipes/mollies/bile you can almost not shoot (except tanks).
Defib is purely BS.. 50% health? 25% at most.. or maybe 40% on the dot so one hit will slow the guy down.
Griefers as somebody stated, really ruin a game.
Servers in 2 need to go advanced at least after all this time, going back to 1 nowdays and almost every server is set to expert (awsome challange).
TO MANY modded servers- unlimited ammo, unlimited throwables, super jump bah... why not just make them die if you look at them? Some of the mods are cool, the burning tank who runs faster on fire is nice, stuff like that.
As for OP l4d is still going strong as far as I can tell, never wait more then a second to get a game, and most of the time its full, no bots. Keep in mind most servers are on expert nowdays and there seems to be little room by the people playing for the people who want every item so rush ahead and die. 1 has alot more teamwork than 2 does.
My single complaint with either game is the real lack of understanding how it works by most players... the rage when they are yards away from anybody and get a special on them and rage out as they where not saved soon enough. this isnt TF2/MOH/COD.. where the lone wolf can work and teamwork is kinda a unknown.. when L4d is set over Normal difficulty it starts to REQUIRE teamwork more and more.. far to many players cant grasp that, or just simpley dont want to.

I was playing it today. I was testing out a new monitor and running through different games to try on it. I still prefer the look and feel of the L4D1 levels over the L4D2. L4D2 has better weapons and that was it as far as I'm concerned. Just my opinion.
i dont think anyone plays the left 4 dead 2 levels anymore. i see more people playing l4d1 levels in l4d2. how strange
Probably all of the L4D2 late adopters who never played L4D1. To them it's new.
As for the characters, they're simply better in L4D2
you played left 4 dead 2 before you played left 4 dead 1. that would make you automatically biased towards part 2.
My only complaint is the jockey should not be so strong and do so much damage. Spitter and Charger work really well with the game. The Jockey on the other hand is over powering compared to every other special infected for what its special purpose is. Seems like the only way to fix that is to either lower the Jockeys health bar or lower the amount of damage it does.
The Jockey's balance is that it has to be close-range, where spitter and charger can shoot/start from further away and out of line of sight. Jockey either needs to run along a roof or show up in a mob... and it's just easy to pick off.
This thread wins for giving me the itch to play the game again.
Oh, and Parish is still a great campaign.
