Left 4 Dead 1 has been left for dead. I don't play it on-line anymore, and when I do launch it I just check out some custom maps off-line for around ten minutes then I get bored. That game had its time, short, it was fun, but it came and now it's gone.

I played the shit out of it when it came out until L4D2 came out.

Don't really have any desire to play it now though.

Well L4D2 killed it for me as well.

But when i say killed, i mean it killed my interest in both games.
Not entirely sure why, but i like L4D better than L4D2, so now i play neither...

Yeah, which is annoying. It's still fun but chainsaws and grenade launchers? Obviously the survivors are more annoying too.

L4D1 is dead though, they're porting all the campaigns over to 2 and they killed one of the survivors more of less confirming no new maps will come out for it.

chainsaws might be decent but they run out of gas, the regular melee weapons are far more reliable and worthy of being considered OP, particularly when there is no melee fatigue when you're using a melee weapon

the grenade launcher is even more inept than the chainsaw. It can be annoying in multiplayer but against skilled opponents the regular Tier 2 weapons are far more fearsome and likewise OP, the grenade launcher explosions will knock you around before you are finished off, with T2 you will be killed outright with ease (of corse we could say this of the T2 weapons in L4D1, and considering you get a lot more ammo in the shotguns they are even more so when considering the autoshotty)

I really just meant those weapons were cheesy and over the top. I don't use the grenade launcher since it seems to be a team damage inducing weapon that leaves you helpless during its long reload. I also don't care for how a single zombie standing behind you seems to keep you from moving at all...slow you down sure, but I can't walk away from some one swinging at me?

Frying pan and golf club? A fucking guitar? The game is still fun and I like the addition of the spitter and maybe the charger but the most of the new features are just goofy.

have you ever played this game in the pitch dark (highest settings) and your totally into the game, then one of your dumbass team mates light the witch on fire and its chasing you down a dark hall and your stuck panicking and shooting? crazy shit.

also, dead air and no mercy is just...not fun on l4d2...its much better on part 1 for some reason.

I'm not sure why you think Dead Air and No Mercy is better in L4D1. There are exploits you can do in L4D1 that make all of its campaigns a breeze, like bunkering up in a room, that's something you cannot do in L4D2. The final mission in L4D2 No Mercy, you also cannot camp on the highest point on the roof and avoid all zombies.

Where exactly can you camp on the "highest point of the roof" and "avoid all zombies" in NM?? Please enlighten.

The highest point of the roof is absolutely susceptible to zombies, as well as smoker attacks.

L4D= Darker sense of humor, more likable cast of characters

L4D 2= sillier, less likable cast.

it was truly one of the best games.

then got the second one and didn't play it as much.

Maybe not in the horror movie sense, but the smaller variety of weapons/throwables and the stingyness of the L4D1 AI director meant that on some of the higher difficulties you could often find your team very low on health and ammo when the director threw a mob at you. It wasnt a pee your pants I am going to die scared, but a oh $#!t we are in for a world of pain as you try to limp to a safe corner to fend off the mob. Expert level friendly fire damage was a real threat during common mob rushes.

Suprised for all the hate.. so many "dont play it anymore" yet you came in here to comment? Huge fan of both games, incredibly fun when played as a TEAM (99% of the games are not, disapointing, but far more challangeing). I prefer 2 with the new infected (especially in VS) the melee is OP for sure.. but so was non stop knockback in 1. I do find after 2 that going back to 1 is quite a challange, you start to understand how depenednet you where on melee. Also maybe its jsut me, all the guns in 1 seem far more random when shooting.. long range kneeling shots just dont seem to connect the way they do in 2. Which in the end is maybe better, it makes the game much harder (of course any smart player is never so far away from a team mate you need to shoot great distances).

Of course all is not well in L4D land even for a person who plays it all the time.

Far to many "throwables" MANY of the finals where you just sit and shoot have so many gas cans/pipes/mollies/bile you can almost not shoot (except tanks).
Defib is purely BS.. 50% health? 25% at most.. or maybe 40% on the dot so one hit will slow the guy down.
Griefers as somebody stated, really ruin a game.
Servers in 2 need to go advanced at least after all this time, going back to 1 nowdays and almost every server is set to expert (awsome challange).
TO MANY modded servers- unlimited ammo, unlimited throwables, super jump bah... why not just make them die if you look at them? Some of the mods are cool, the burning tank who runs faster on fire is nice, stuff like that.

As for OP l4d is still going strong as far as I can tell, never wait more then a second to get a game, and most of the time its full, no bots. Keep in mind most servers are on expert nowdays and there seems to be little room by the people playing for the people who want every item so rush ahead and die. 1 has alot more teamwork than 2 does.

My single complaint with either game is the real lack of understanding how it works by most players... the rage when they are yards away from anybody and get a special on them and rage out as they where not saved soon enough. this isnt TF2/MOH/COD.. where the lone wolf can work and teamwork is kinda a unknown.. when L4d is set over Normal difficulty it starts to REQUIRE teamwork more and more.. far to many players cant grasp that, or just simpley dont want to.
