Anyone here transferred the contacts from an old Blackberry to something modern?

A friend with an old-as-the-hills Blackberry Curve 8520 is looking to get a smartphone (likely Android). I've read that all the contacts can be transferred in one go over Bluetooth via a core phone feature, but somehow I doubt it's going to be that simple. There's too many contacts to type them back in by hand.

Can you export as a csv, then import on the new device?

You're probably right that the contacts would likely need to be send individually via BT. There's gotta be some way.

The web suggests you can export them from Desktop Manager on a PC. You may also check if the carrier store can help you as I'm sure it's (was) a common request.

Many years ago I was using a Blackberry (definitely older than your 8520), and I already had my contact list synced with Google Contacts, so it wasn't a problem converting to a different phone.

You can probably look up a way to sync your current contact with Google Contacts directly (Google used to provide an app for this).

Edit: just to confirm, I double checked and it was an ultimate dinosaur, Blackberry 8703e which was released in 2006. Definitely older than the Curve.
