If so, how do you like it? How is support? If you have used a comparable Adaptec card, how does the Tekram compare? With the Adaptec prices being so much higher, and wanting to get a SCSI HD to go with SCSI burner and CD-ROM, the Tekram prices seem hard to pass up.

I've got the U3W based on all the great things i've heard about it over at Storage Review.com. I'd love to comment on it, but it's been almost a month and I still haven't been able to get it working with my Atlas 10k II.

Running an U3W with an X15 and Altlas 10K on the LVD channel, Plextor 40X, 32X and 8x20 CD-R on the Ultra channel without a hitch. Had initial problems until I updated the Bios to version 4.17 (now 4.18). frail: What kind of problems are you having?

My post over at Storage Review

I didn't get much help over at SR, but I guess the only thing left I can think of is how to boot off my Win2k cd. Even though i've already tried that, at least I think I set everything right in the bios. Or the jumpers on the drive/card.

edit...

Also, another thing is after I try the installation. The card's bios turns on, identifies two LSILOGIC devices, I'm assuming both channels of the card and also my drive. Says something like, "Boot ROM successfully installed", and then freezes. I've gotta take the card out to bypass it. Kinda goes on and on, but also when I Ctrl+C and go into the bios, when it says press F2 to go into other settings, the menu doesn't change, the cursor type blink goes away and I can press the arrow keys and enter to kinda manuever around.

I cant comment too much with me being a complete newbie to scsi hard drives and controllers, but just yesterday i finall received my tekram 390u2w card along with my Atlas II 10k drive i have, took me a good while trying to figure it out with setting the drive up , basically my main obstacle was actually getting the drive partitioned and formatted believe it or not.
The controller was dead easy , basically a case of just installing and booting up and getting into the bios it has which seems pretty straight forward , then i turned the pc off and then connected up my hard drive with the correct cable/terminator and plugged into the correct port on the controller card.
after i had booted up and the drive was detected correctly with its id # configured etc i then started running into my probs i spoke of earlier , i tried to install the aspi drivers and tfdisk files but wouldnt load onto C: due to the fact it didnt detect a drive of any type , in the end i ended up booting using the win98 boot disk and then fdisked/partitioned and then formatted C: drive , once done then i went back and then tried what the manual said and everything worked great onwards

Have you tried the card in an unshared PCI slot (will share the same IRQ for the two channels). Is the LVD terminator plugged in at the end of the cable. Check here for jumper settings for your 10K II 10K II. What are your SCSI adapter and SCSI device properties in BIOS?

That's one thing I was unsure of, the jumper settings. My drive came oem, so it really didn't come with any. Are they a necessity? I guess maybe I can take the ones off of my U3W?

Oh yeah, about the unshared PCI slots, i've tried them all except 3. Each time I put the card in the old slots where I failed my installation, I get the bios freeze. While the others let me boot to dos fine, etc.
