That show kind of sucks.

That show kind of sucks.

It has a bit of a slow pace, which hurts it a bit. I've just always favored the morally righteous types as heroes. In this latest episode, you finally get to see who is the black-haired girl on the anime's poster. Although, I'm not sure how she'll tie into the rest of the show. The show has always had a bit more of a seinen feel to it, but the last episode was quite a bit more than usual. This yakuza guy would kidnap and rape women, and in one scene, they show him naked walking around with his private parts blacked out. Although, it wasn't a black bar or mosaic, but rather like a constant shadow cast over his stuff. It was... interesting as I don't normally see that stuff in anime.

Never heard of those. I do remember a regular non animated show my younger brothers watched called Ultraman.

Galaxy Express 999 is one of those weird OVAs that I watched when I was younger (I think on SciFi) without really knowing what it was. Iria The Zeiram was another one like that, but not nearly as odd as Galaxy Express.

Totally different era. I read Galaxy Express 999 mangas. Watched the anime later of course. I love Galaxy Express 999.

I still have the IRIA dvds somewhere

re-watching Galaxy Express 999, haven't seen it since it aired back in 1978/9
maybe I'll re-watch Captain Harlock as well.

I take it that you don't like it?

I've found it kind of awkward how they focus so much on backstory and such, and then a fight will last for about... 20-30 seconds at best... and usually end in an unsatisfying way.

Lots of talk, trying to flesh out the characters, but fail miserably at it, then kill them off wantonly. The actions of the characters are just not believable.

Family is watching Ronja, an Amazon Original. Looks good in 4K, but the computer animation creeps me out. It's like those animatronic robots trying to pass off as humans. I can't handle it lol.

Watch 'Your Name' in 4k and thank me later oh and watch the dub if your newish to Anime because the dub is really good. 99% dub sucks but Your Name dub is well done.

I had to watch psycho-pass movie in dub cuz the japanese cast was just butchering the English.

Yh same. I watch the dub too. However I still have not watched the movie yet. Apparently, the main male lead still disappears? is that true? Anyway Stein Gate dub is 10/10 I can't think of any dub Anime that is better than Steins Gate. Just my opinion

Astroboy and Doramon, I can never forget these from my childhood.(both are available on the American Disney kids channel nowadays)

As I grow older, I tend to focuse on animes that have more mature themes and greater literary values. And strangely, deconstruction style genres with sudden dark twists like madoka magica and made in the abyss fit well into this niche. I really enjoy these dark, trageic animes for some reason...
