Anyone in here in medicine?

Well, just recently around 12 hours ago, I just submitted an application @ Cal State University Nursing Department. And hopefully getting picked to be a Nursing student ... I'm pretty hyped about this one. As of now, i'm a pre-nursing student, not sure if I can make it when I'm againsts another 150 - 180 students who's wants to be in ...200 applies , only 36 can enter in the department per semester, it's hard stuff, strict guidelines for gpa, classes to pick for pre-requisites and what not. Almost there now, it is a matter of time of waiting.

Nurses have weird hours from what I've heard from some nursing friends. Some have 24 hours shifts then go home and sleep then go back out and do some more weird hours.

If you become a nurse, you'll have almost 100% job security. barely any hospitals have the nursing staff that is required for the amount of patients they have in house. good choice :thumbsup:

oh, and try to become an RN. they make like 40k a year and only work 2 days a week @ our hospital. could get an RN position @ 2 diff. hospitals and make 80k working only 4 days a week.

How many hours do you work in those 2 days? That sounds like way too much money for working just 2 days.

Yes, off course I stated before I'm a pre-nursing student, and will try to get a spot to be a real nursing student...as a RN later on the future. Hopefully things will be fine and dandy. Yet, I have to wait for an answer from the nursing's department, and maybe got pick to be in their program. But nonetheless, there are institutions teaching nursing courses of course

i believe it's 12 hour shifts. but the starting salary is around 40k.

I got 2 aunts and a grandma who are in the Nursing career. All in RN and makes alot of money. On average, the get paid 40-50+ an hour or more (depends on the hospital, and other factors in play), while easily making 80,000-100,000 dollars a year :shocked:. But it is not a easy job per se
