In a couple weeks I'm heading up to High Point (NJ) my favorite local place The views from the top of the mountain are (surprise) excellent. Foliage here in jersey is late in coloring. Last year at this tiime the view from my bedroom window was awesome, this year, not much yet. The place is full of deer, though.

Enjoy. I love the leaves in New England but don't much like the wall to wall traffic.

You're like 20 minutes from me. Tons of deer here, too. One startled the crap out of me when I opened my door this afternoon, it jumped right out of a bush in front of me.

Better that than the wild bear that was roaming around last year, though.

Drove to Burlington VT last week and wow, best they've looked in a few years IMO. remember thinking it was a leafer's wet dream, particularly as I was heading West at sunset.

I like the drive to high point, used to go there every year with bunch of Passat folks.

EDIT: If you like Jamaican/Caribbean food (especially jerk chicken, mmm), stop by Ripe Restaurant in Mount Vernon. Good place to stop for lunch or dinner on your way back to the city.
