Hey everyone!! CALLING ALL BIKERS!!

I just came back from a nice bike ride earlier today and my "bottom" hurts so much! It's very sore now. So, I'm thinking about getting some suspension seats, a new bike seat, and some other cycling accessories. Anyone have any suggestions on where is a good place online that offers great products at good prices? If you can, please let me know. Thanks!!

Hope this soreness goes away...

Nashabr is good. I like Performance .

Keep in mind that if you don't ride a lot, your butt will hurt regardless of what seat you have. It will only go away after you ride a few times and get used to it. The other thing is if you DO ride a lot, buying one of those big cushy gel seats will actually be more uncomfortable if you put a lot of mileage on (anything over 20 miles and it will probably be uncomfortable).

Very True. If you are going to bike for exercise all you really need is a good pair (or a few pairs) of cycling shorts w/ padding. They have some that look like regular shorts if you are afraid of the spandex type. As mentioned above-- after 3-4x riding you won't get sore any more. Of course you still should give yourself a few days recovery... otherwise the next ride is a real PITA-- literally.

I have a suspension post and a nice semi-squishy seat, and it does make a huge difference. The suspension post is probably the biggest help - takes the edge off all the jarring impacts.

I use Sella Italia Flite Titanium seats on all my bikes. The titanium rails combined with the plastic shell means the seat flexs a lot which provides comfort. It is also still one of the lightest seats on the market.

I also forgot to mention that you need to make sure the seat angle is correct or no seat will work.

Thanks for all the posts guys!

Here is the thing... I have this old GIANT bike (old brand name, great Taiwan bike), that is about 10 years old; lugged it all the way back from Taiwan, pretty amazing huh?? Well, I've always kept it in good condition and now I ride it around campus at CAL now. There's nothing special about the bike, pretty crappy I guess: 10 speed, "feels like steel" frame, it's pretty heavy, no suspension, BUT I do have aluminum wheels! But yeah, I got a new bike seat last week, the ones with a hole in the middle to "relieve" some pressure where your prostate is. It was pretty comfortable yesterday while riding to the Berkeley marina, but man, my @ss does hurt a lot right now.

It seems like the more I'm spending on my bike, I could just get a whole brand new one at like target for $60-70 bucks! I know those bikes may suck but at least they're lighter than mine, they have a suspension, everything is tuned up, etc.

Oh yeah, my bike seat right now is a little angled upwards, and I read that it should be level to the main bar on the frame. So I will adjust that later. I'm thinking about getting a suspension seat post too and Ive been looking around on eb@y and someone is selling a few of them for $14.99 buy-it-now. So I'm thinking I should go for that. The seller name is: gibbs@pclink.com -

If anyone can check it out for me and let me know their opinions on it, that would be great. BIKE SEAT POST

Thanks!

When I first started riding again this summer, I had the same problem. It will go away, and it will stay away if you keep riding as your body adjusts to the stresses of biking.
