anyone know about battery powered string trimmers?

I have a battery powered trimmer (can't remember the voltage off the top of my head) and it works great. Haven't run into any issues with it dying before I was able to complete the job. Whether or not battery powered is the way to go will depends on quite a few things, like the size of your yard, how tall the grass you will be cutting it is, how often you plan to use it, etc...

Recently bought a 32v Worx 2.0. It has a lot of power for a battery trimmer, good build quality, great ergonomics, and edges really well. I have a smaller yard and I can trim and edge the entire thing twice on a charge, so like 45 min run time.

I have a black and decker I got from Walmart. It only goes about 30 minutes on a charge too, but it came with two batteries. Its plenty for my yard. In fact, I used it Sunday and didn't even need the second battery.

My suggestion: If you're not getting enough use time out of a charge, look into getting a spare battery.

I have the same B&D from Home Depot that came with 2 batteries. Since it takes over 9 hours to charge one battery (kind of ludicrous), and I never fully charge before every go, I keep it to one battery and do my edges quickly. 30 minutes to go around all edges of a property is plenty unless you have an acre+.

BTW, thank you to everyone here who doesn't hire landscapers. Man are they annoying since they come on different days (incl. Saturday) making it pretty much every day with noise in the neighborhood.

So far, been satisfied with the Black and Decker 36V Li-ion cordless trimmers. Have three batteries, one included with a hedge trimmer, a blower, and said trimmer.

HOWEVER, one charger was defunct. The other batteries, doing their musical chairs with the chargers, can pretty much keep a tool going as much as I needed.

it works fine, but I have it because I already had a slew of their tools that run on the same packs, it was cheaper than buying another battery and charger to get it with a battery and charger, and I have about 10 minutes of edging to do, so why pay a ton for a gas unit
