Anyone know about Linksys Routers?

Hello All,
I've had my Linksys router(BEFSR41) for a long time now. Everything seems fine upto now. It seems I have to press the reset switch alot to get the router to work.
example: Click on IE and I get no connection, type in the router address and IE times out. Press the resst switch and all works again. Anyone seen this or could help me?

whats the firmware you have on the unit?

could be that your router is loosing power, do you have it daisy chaned through a bunch of things. are you setting your ip to static in the router, or letting it get it through dhcp from the cable modem\dsl modem? or upgrade the firmware is allways an option.

Mine does that in waves. Sometimes it is fine for weeks and sometimes I have to reset it once every day or two. I have upgraded firmware a few times but have not checked for any updates in months.

This happens with me occasionaly with my dynamic dsl connection. I think it has to do with losing the "lease" on my dynamic ip address. type in http://192.168.1.1 in the address window to get to admin setup. click the status tab: it will probably say connected, click dis-connect. after it disconnects, click on connect: it should reconnect in a few seconds.

it has to be better than the old Pentium 120 with a 360MB hard drive I'm using for an internet gateway (NAT server) and printserver in the basement at the moment. The darn thing will randomly reboot every few weeks.

Hey, a P120 isn't that bad for a NAT server. My high school way back in the day used a 60 mhz computer to handle ALL of the school's computers.

get a netgear, got my rt314 for something like $45, after the $30 off from buy.com and another $25 rebate from netgear(which I'm still wating on). I've seen a lot of problems with Linksys routers, and most of them came down to the router not sending a ping every once in a while and your modem(cable or dsl) loosing its ip.
