Anyone know anything about working on washers?

Have a older Whirlpool that works good other then its not been spinning out the clothes except on the final spin cycle. It just drains the water on the wash and rinse cycles. If I catch it while the water is draining during these cycles then stop/start it the spin in-gauges and it spins like its suppose to. Any ideas?

there is no point trying to fix these things..the control module is shot and it will cost you same price to fix. May as well get new one.

The motor spins one way for agitate, then reverses for shifting the transmission in to spin mode. In between is neutral and you're getting stuck there. If you lift the lid while it should be spinning but is only draining, as the motor spins to a stop it will go clunk as it locks in to spin mode. Close the lid and see if it starts spinning. If it does than that is your problem.

Edit: I assume this to be an older top loader non electronic.

The clutch/ transmission has a ring with three or six brake pads ... They are worn out ... Easy to change.

I replaced the agitator dog's few months ago they fixed a agitator issue. It's probably the timer. When I put it on a different wash cycle the washer spins fine on wash, rinse and final wash cycle. I may just run it on a different cycle and save for a new one. I can get a nice used one local for around $100-$150. A timer is $100+ unless I can find one off a parts washer.
