Anyone know what became of the 20WMGX2?

Is this screen being phased out or something? One minute it's there on NewEgg with a $100 MIB, and now it's nowhere to be found! I was just gonna buy it. =(

Hopefully they will bring the NEC LCD20WGX2/20WMGX2 "Pro" version (same thing) to the US even if it's a little more expensive than the 20WMGX2's lowest price.

It cost too much.

For instance, I would consider buying a 1920x1200 panel before I would consider dropping so much on a 1680x1050.

It costs so much for a reason. Its an IPS rather than a crappy TN panel, meaning great viewing angles, color, high contrast, etc., but yet with a response time of 6 ms. So you can game on it AND use it as a real monitor. Its therefore unique as far as I know.

The only reason I never bought one is that there is apparently no scaling...

well it is basically the best monitor around.


amazon still has the silver one for like $600 and it even says they only have 5 left.

the 20wmgx2pro is exactly the same monitor. i think if it was offered here, i'd have taken the 20wgx2 instead of the M version, since i have never used the component and the analog tuner is worthless now since america is almost all atsc

maybe they will come out with a new one with an atsc tuner..... one cna only dream.

I think the problem is that it didn't sell as well in the US as all the $5 72" widescreen TNs with 5-degree viewing angle but -2 ms response time.

Here they go through the trouble to take the best panel around, which has only one down side (slow response time), and tweak it until its as fast as most TNs, but yet with all the benefits of a $1000+ IPS. It was probably the best all-around LCD in history...but with no aspect ratio control...?

i have one and honestly.. it is the best monitor on earth.

my setup at my office is actually a 2007fpw and dual 2007fps and they are no where near as vibrant and as good a contrast ratio as this.

Newegg puts a cheaper open box version up now and again. There wont be a warranty but there is 15 return period without the restock tax etc.

Is the 20WGX 2 Pro the same? On site below they show different panels being used - S-IPS vs AS-IPS. That would still be ok. Better than the TN replacement I was hearing about.

that is probably wrong.


the original is as-ips.


the "pro " line was made, because they made a 90gx2 pro and 70gx2 pro. those are tn, but i guess the pro version dropped refresh from 5ms to 2ms.

they just added pro to the name of the 20" just to make it match from what i remember reading.
