Canada has reciprocal agreements with most states on these things. Just pay it. It can catch up with you unexpectedly.

I remember sitting in traffic court once with a guy who had a $15 jaywalking ticket and ignored it. It eventually snowballed into over $500 and an arrest warrant. Since he didn't have that much money, he asked to be on trash patrol at $8 per hour until it was paid off. I remember thinking how screwed that guy was over an unpaid $15 ticket.

Even in Canada unpaid government issued parking tickets can lead to arrest warrants in some provinces. Alberta is particularly bad for issuing warrants for everything.

If it was on a private lot the worst they can do is send you to collections.

I would probably just pay it. There's not really such thing as different countries anymore when it comes to the law, since laws extend pretty much everywhere from everywhere one way or the other. For example our PM just signed an extradition treaty with CHINA of all places. Quite scary.

If it's $60 Canadian it's going to cost you like $30. That's a fraction of the cost of the gas you used to get here. Just consider it part of the cost of that trip.

There are some barbaric torture methods used by Canadian military, which they will send after you once it's been over a year the bill has been unpaid.

The worse I heard of, and it might just be an urban legend because it sounds so bad. What they do is tie you up to a chair and force feed you pancakes, WITHOUT maple syrup. They even put a bottle of pure Canadian maple syrup on the table just to tease you but they never even open it. Sometimes they even make you wear a Leafs jersey.

So pay that bill!

Hell, during my roadtrip, stupid me got a $250 speeding ticket in Tombstone, AZ 7 years ago. It's a true bumfack nowhere in AZ, 10 miles north of Mexican border.

I ended up just ignoring the ticket. Nothing EVER happened from it- got a clean record today in both Mass & NJ/NY. It's a population of 1,300. I bet they literally have a shack for a DMV office.

They would report it from their "shack" to the DMV in Phoenix, which shares info with other States. It could certainly come back to haunt you later.

I drove my car to Toronto and got a $60 parking ticket. I'm back in the US and will probably never be in Canada again or for a really long time. By then, I probably will not have my current car. What happens if you don't pay an out of the country parking ticket? I'm googling and reading up on it but just wanted to see if anyone had experience.

The people above are shitposting dumbasses. Almost certainly nothing will happen given it's not even a moving violation. Anecdotally I know of americans who have multiple moving violations in Canada and they don't do shit about it except send you a bill every year and that stops after a while.

At worst if it ever happens is they notify DMV of a parking ticket.
You will get then your car registration renewal with held unless you pay off the ticket.
At the most it will be 2x the fine of the original ticket, thats IF and i say ONLY IF DMV honors it.

Of course you can easily contest the ticket, say you never got it, or it was lost before you even got it, and have all the other late fee's waved.
Best thing to do is wait for the mail.
If DMV was notified, and they honor the ticket, they will send you a mail saying your car was citation and owes X amount, failure to pay will result in blah blah blah...

If you get no mail, the DMV probably told canada Chacaron 'n' macaron... and Canada went Forget it...
