anyone know where ppl are buying week 27's or 28's?

i have a e6600 box in my face and i saw it once now i cant find it again

I'd assume any store which quickly goes through inventory would have the latest chips. Newegg, ZZF, Mwave...

it says it on the serial number i believe...i know it starts with L6 then it will say 24 27 28 depending on the week l627 or l628 its a pretty long number

Look at the FPO/BATCH#: L6xxA###, xx is the week.

You'll still be gambling, i got a week 24 C2D E6600 when Newegg restocked last week, while other people got Week 27 and ordered the same day I did.

Yep.

Couldn't find the one I was looking for but they seem to clock better with lower vcore than the older chips.

I can't afford to go out and buy a new CPU just because I don't have a week 27 chip. I'm decently happy with what I have now.

I'm extremely happy with the chip I already have(week 24 if it makes any difference, runs fast and cool for me).

A different week is no guarantee you will get one that overclocks better. Overclocking is very much "luck of the draw" and always has been.

Yeah and it shocks me that some people will RMA chips over and over claiming to have bad ones while buying from different retailers until they get the exact one they want.

Soulless geeks(or scumbags as most would call them) will always do stuff like this... I remember when the GeForce2 videocards came out and they had tons of "open box" deals at BestBuy... no doubt from guys who do this sort of thing hoping for 10 more MHz of overclocking ability.

c2d (6300-6700) is pretty much readily available at all major e-vendors: buy.com, outpost.com, zzf, newegg, mwave, monarchcomputers... those are the main ones i buy from.
