Come on OP. Post new pics.
We want to see this outdoor amphitheater.

it is a tent basically over their deck that is like 15' off the deck. it looks permanent. but then they have another tent in the yard, like one you would have up for a party or something, but it's been up since last weekend.

we will call the thing over the deak "the gazebo thing" for typing purposes. the light on the gazebo thing is SSSSOOOO fucking bright too. it's like the white color light too, no the yellow color. they leave it on some nights and some other nights they turn it off. like it completely destroys the ambient lighting in my backyard when we are out there if that light is coming over.

then yesterday, they were doing MORE stuff back there and installing MORE lights. they put these 3 flood lights on the left side of the house, and they are SSSOOOO bright as well. and they are up like super high. their yard at night looks brighter than it does during the day, i don't get it. the neighbors to the left of them (when i'm facing them from the back) have to be EXTREMELY annoyed by this, because that is their living room with the tv in it, and it's now just bright as shit in there.

i'm going to give it like 2 weeks and see how it goes, but if they don't have a party or something and turn them down/take them off, then i'm going to go over and have a chat with them and just ask them if they can either turn them off at night when they aren't out there, mount them lower, or aim them differently.

it is almost like they got robbed and are now making their yard as bright as a prison so no one will walk in it. the only thing is, they have these lights installed super high up on their house and it makes no sense why they have it so high.

the gazebo over the deck doesn't even block the sun out AT ALL because the angle the sun passes through.

i know they don't have any kids around school age, only like a 28 year old son, but i'm wondering if they are having like a graduation party or something for someone in the near future. they also had a huge party 2 years ago so i'm wondering if maybe this is another one of those. but even then, when i'm outside at a party at night, i don't want to have to wear sun glasses so i don't know if that is the case.

i'll try to grab some pics tonight if i remember.

i genuinely don't think this is anything intentional though, i think they are just clueless. before we put the fence up, they would leave their back patio light on almost every night and it was the same shit, just very bright but pointed like right at our house. it was nice with the fence up not seeing it anymore, but now these other lights are ridiculous.

i swear it is like a compound at night as far as the lighting goes over there lol. if i remember i'll snag pics through our window in our bedroom at night so you can see how bright it is over there. if the lights weren't so high up and were blocked by the fence i wouldn't even notice them either.

OP just needs some preparation for his neighbors going full white-trash. They think this is helping you! Unfortunately, if you are not on beer drinking terms with your neighbors this is probably only continuing a downward spiral.

Why are you so concerned about their back yard?

Lights too bright? Ever heard of a window shades or blackout curtains?

If you were to come to my house whining about "pointing lights" I would look you in the face and laugh at you. Are you serious?

And now you are going to raise a stink about it if nothing is done in few weeks? WTF?

Leave them the hell alone and mind your own business. It's their life/their back yard.

THEY are not bothering you, YOU are bothering yourself (and will soon bother them in the process)......and make a fool of yourself while at it.

Besides, your backyard looks empty/small and bland. Of course your neighbors things grab your attention as you have nothing in your backyard. Get some plants etc against that fence......looks weird.

You really are the same here as in real life........aren't you?

Let me ask you a question.

a) did you even bother talking to your neighbors prior to installing the fence? Usually neighbors that border fences talk/agree on something (for example, my neighbor and I split cost agreed on good/bad sides etc).

b) is your 8' fence legal? Most towns around where I live only allow 6'....

I hope he is sensative to their cultural practices when they begin sacrificing goats on their elevated platform.

The superstructure is one thing. Shining a bright light into someone's house is inconsiderate, legal or not.

I think that was already covered and the answer was no to both. I believe there was an issue about the placement of the fence on the property line not being "code".

I said it once and I'll say it again, fences make bad neighbors

lol i saw the front of their house today on my way home from work. they have like 5 of these double lights installed on the front as well. it's insane how many lights they have around their house now.

i wonder if they got robbed or had some stuff stolen and now they are hyper paranoid. it is clearly not anything to do with "payback" or anything of that nature cause of the fence. i mean they knew i was getting a fence anyways so it isn't like it was a surprise to them.

So is putting up 8' illegal fence beyond your property.

OP, you are selfish, inconsiderate, arrogant prick....just like your posts on this forum.

I hope your neighbor builds a crane system that continuously dumps horse shit on your property!

I can tell by his posts that he is "one of those neighbors"

Can't wait to see his fence go down or what they payback will be.

You seem to be forgetting that this isn't P&N or OT. These threads have been pulled out of OT for the sake of getting more discussion. No personal attacks/trolling/etc. -Admin DrPizza

Exactly. It's usually inconsiderate people who end up causings laws to be made.
I can shine lights, leave piles of dog crap, never now my lawn, have cars on blocks; there is no law against it! Enough people get upset by inconsiderate people to get the laws changed.

frame for a canvas awning to block the sun over their deck?

Industrial strength if it is, its overboard bigtime for a canvas awning. Maybe they just want to be sure it wil hold up, but its way overdone for an awning. But i have to agree, it looks like that, the double edge for lacing it on and such. Im interested in finished product.

Good point, he needs it.....it's as bland as back yards get.
Heck, his neighbor yard view and structures are actually a FEATURE in his backyard.....
It's amazing how big of a douche you can be.

OP, upload more pics!

Are you his neighbor? Really curious if you can be any bigger of a dick face than you currently have displayed in this thread

Subscribed to this thread, really curious what they are building.

lol i wouldn't have gotten back to this thread had i not seen edro post about it in the other thread on OT. moving to san diego has nothing to do with the neighors lol.

anyways, it is just a big ass canopy tent thing. it's permanent.

they also (the wife) installed these lights to blast the backyard, but they put them so high up on the house they are blinding all of the neighbors, myself included. they go over the 8ft fence easily into our backyard and onto our house. they also have lights up on that tent thing too.

well after about 3 weeks of them keeping the lights on ALL NIGHT i went and talked to them. the husband said it was all his wife's doing, and according to the neighbors who have been there longer, the wife is mental. she had the lights installed because the believes they will keep the evil spirits away. she is completely harmless according to the neighbors, but she just has some mental issues. now i'm even more glad i put the fence up.

to make a long story short, after a quick conversation with the husband and he seemed to feel a bit embarassed, the lights have hardly been on since. they no longer keep them blasting at night like they did before. it made my backyard completely not ambient at night because it was so bright out there.

as for more pics, here are some updates of how my backyard currently looks. took these before my wifes birthday party. still need to put some plants along the fence but just didn't get around to it. also going to put 2 seats in the circle portion of the backyard.

as for the tent thing, you can see it in the background of this picture, just how high it is over the fence.
