Anyone like the Westy 37w3?

Hi,

Does anyone know much about this TV Monitor that has no tuner?

I have been reading up at AVS forums.. but the old buy now or wait for the new improved product is a tough one since Monitors and TVs are improving while dropping in price faster than they were a couple years ago if I remember things ok.

So.. I was thinking of snapping up a 1080P Westy from BuyDig or some on-line shop or some other nice 37-42 inch LCD or plasma for reading and writing and surfing and movies and lots of work related spreadsheet work.

Can anyone suggest anything for me? I will be viewing from 3-4 feet and 8-10 feet. Unfortunately my work only allows these viewing distances.. so its like I am shopping for the old pull out couch.. getting to work at both distances usually means not that great at either..

I think that should be fine. I own the Westinghouse 32w6. I'm 2.5 - 3 feet away when I sit at my desk and I will either watch movies in my chair or lay in my bed that is 6-8 feet away. Quality is excellent for both.

I own the lvm-37w3 and LOVE it. Sit @ 4-5' from the screen w/o problems. Search the forum and you'll find plenty of threads on this. Big thumbs up from me.

Amazing display, that's all I gotta say. PC Gamer recently chose it over the Dell and HP 30 inch monitors for gaming.

I've owned the Westy 37" and now a Westy 42" and couldn't be more pleased. Excellent bang for the buck.

I like all I have read, but I find myself in the old buy now or later kind of decision, which I am having a hard time deciding..

the new Westy's should cost about twenty percent more than the current when they come out this Spring and be roughly 20 percent better as contrast ratio will be improved from 1000 to 1200 and average grey to grey response time will improve from 8 ms to 6.5.

So.. while we can buy the current 37w3 for around 1,100 - 1,200 shipped today, we would need to wait five to six months to get a similar price on the newer improved westys. With the 42W2, size wise and if banding issues resolved would look really nice..probably being my favorite to wait for since 37 is on the small side of my range of LCD's I am looking at.. also the new will have a usb port so firmware can be updated more easily.

anyway.. based on 20% improvement.. is it worth it to wait six months on a TV/Monitor for the same price or since I am without a quality one... should I pull the trigger now????

I bought one two weeks ago and wish I had bought sooner -- this thing is amazing as a PC display. I was agonizing over it too, but I'm glad I pulled the trigger.

I got it a week ago and its amazing. I wouldnt get anything else.

I have absolutely no regrets with this after 2 months. I only wish I had the money to get another one.

Thanks for the input.. I decided... I ordered one last night.

Firgured... five to six months without one was higher cost.
