I've been trying to use mediamonkey to listen to internet radio and the interface is really a pain to use for it since it pops up a window and it's hard to navigate stations. it's also not conducive in a HTPC environment.

how many people here actually use internet radio stations as opposed to pandora and what program do you use to access it?

I use DeaDBeeF and Quod Libet. They're both for GNU/Linux(I think Quod Libet might have a Windows client), and they're good for compiling several stations. VLC is good for single stations. I like Foobar2000 for a Windows player.

iheartradio.com , well actually I use the mobile app and I am not sure if you would call streaming actual radio stations online "internet radio"

I use it only for one channel from Florida that I can no longer catch now that I have moved back home.

WZZR 94.3 check it out, the show to look for is The Love Doctors, which is not a relationship show. It is a talk show that will discuss anythign and everything. The do not prescreen calls, the show is what the callers make it. It is usually hilarious. It starts in 15 minutes.

I still like winamp. Shoutcast is still pretty decent, and the last I checked it was still compatible with streamripper too.

AOL radio was added to it a while back too, and for a while they had decent quality bitrate, and the songs were broken up neatly so streamripper was amazing for it, it even captured the full id3 tags.

I think they broke that since then though, I can't get it to work with AOL anymore.

About a year ago I started using services like pandora/spotify and finally settled with slacker, it's just easier IMO.

Right now im listening to an MP3 stream with WMP9

When I listen to AAC streams I use either VLC or Screamer Player and when I listen to RM streams I use either WMP or Realplayer 8+

SqueezePlay.

It's a bit awkward, but I can remote control it, and it integrates with all my stuff, so it gets a free pass.

I listen to SiriusXM Online a lot. It's okay, when it works. I like the on-demand feature, since I don't get a chance to listen to O&A live. SiriusXM really needs to up their game though. They've fallen way behind in terms of technology and content. Don't know what they're going to do when Howard finally retires, which I think is coming sooner than they'd like. He's still their golden boy but apparently only does his show live once a week now, if that.

iTunes has Internet radio stations on their Windows UI with categories and tons of Internet radio "stations" in each. Such as "All Irish Dublin - Irish music to the world" station in the International category, or in the Ambient category "Chiplduk Radio - With unlimited irresponsibility"

Mobile, I use TuneIn Radio app on Android and iOS.

This thread is a year old

Yup, time for an update. I've been digging Clementine. It's cross platform, and comes with a bunch of stations pre-loaded, so you can browse if you aren't sure what you want to listen to. It also plays everything else audio oriented. A little cluttered, but it's a nice player.
