Anyone live in SF and commute to work in the Bay Area?

How long is your commute in the morning? To which city? Wondering how long it'll take to get to work around Palo Alto, CA if I live in south SF.

I'd sure find out before making any plans. I think you'll be traveling against the rush hour traffic, but 101 and 280 are so congested that I'm not sure it really matters which way you're traveling.

depending on where you work I think commuting would be better...

San Francisco traffic is a pain in the ass to get through.

I live in Sunnyvale and commute to SF.
My advice, take the train and buy one of those xootr's and ride to your work if it's within 2 miles from the train station.

Depending on traffic that could take you 30 minutes or three hours....... I live in San Jose and work in Sunnyvale and that takes about 30 minutes with traffic.... San Jose > SF at 6am with no traffic = one hour

south SF to palo alto is not bad unless you're driving through rush hour traffic. It takes about twenty minutes to half an hour without traffic depending on how you drive. With traffic it takes anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour

when i first got out of grad school i did the opposite commute from palo alto to downtown sf and thats a good hour or more, and thats if there arent any traffic problems (south sf is maybe 15 minutes closer). if i were you and i were going to keep my job in palo alto i would move there, its cheaper than sf as well. i hate wasting time commuting

There's a ton of people commuting from SF to the South Bay and Peninsula. There's no 'reverse commute' on 101. It's packed every morning and every evening in every direction.

That's what I thought as well. It's been some years since I've made that drive though.
Palo Alto is a much nicer place than South City, move there.
