Biostar recently launched a new Mining Focused "BTC" 6 GPU capable mining rig.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138449

It is currently out of stock at NewEgg - but I've a new in box motherboard here with me. I was about to return it back to NewEgg (things came up that have made me change my mind about GPU mining) but wanted to see if anyone at AT forum might be interested in this mobo.

TBH I'm not sure if this is a true "for sale" thread (I'm not selling it, just asking) so please feel free to move this thread if I'm posting up the wrong tree.

If anyone's in search of a GPU mining mobo, I can help send this your way for an appropriate price -cheers.

Interesting, I assume pcie1x is actually sufficient for the miners? I'm not familiar with how the data flows to the card, but this implies that small data -> card, card processes, small data-> miner

You are correct - Most mining Rigs use PCEe x16 to x1 risers and connect the 1x part to Mobo. Most never even connect 1 GPU directly to Motherboard, and rather have all 6 (or 5..4..3) connected via Risers.

I also have 2 PCIe risers with me as well. Would you be interested? I just got the motherboard in the box with a NIB Kaby Lake $42 CPU, NIB 4 GB stick of RAM ($30) etc.... if you are interested, I'll happily ship them to you at cost + shipping (no markup) I'm just trying to recoup my expenses. I can ship em all back to NewEgg but if you're looking to build something, please let me know. THanks!

(you may PM me if you'd like to have the conversation out of the thread)

This thread shows you lots of pictures for reference I built myself a wooden case/frame for 6 GPUs for $25 using Home Depot parts......wish I could sell them locally to you! I'm in Cincinnati Ohio.

I would have bought one if I had heard about it just a day sooner. I may purchase one as soon as Friday, though. 5 PCI-E motherboards aren't too hard to find, but there are only a handful of 6x ones, and they are crazy expensive.

EDIT: back out of stock...

I'm actually tempted, but I don't think you can make any sort of profit with mining these days.

Ethereum mining's still profitable.
Yeah, if you already have the gear. It would take a little over a year to pay back 6 480rx. Not to mention the PSU(s) and electricity to run them.

I paid $80 for my 280x, and I made ~$30 on it after running for two months, I think it was.

Edit: did some math, it'll take about 5 months to pay it back for just the cards, using the cheapest $189 RX480s.

I'd use 470s, but yes, it would take a little longer to break even depending on other costs like electricity and other parts.

Nicehash Miner reports roughly $55 per RX 480 profit per month if left running 24/7. So yes it'd be about 3 & 1/2 months to recover cost of one RX 480.

I really was all in, but things have changed at work and I have decided not to go down the mining route with uncertainty ahead of me - I made a nice wooden case too....oh well. I learnt something !

Anyways - If anyone (
?) would like the motherboard please shoot me a message in a day or so! If I dont hear anything, I'll go the route of Newegg returns. I just wanted to ask in the AT group if anyone's looking for a nice new BTC 6 PCIe mobo (these are hard to get, I really lucked out on getting one of these)

Vishnu

Cool stuff, if I was in the market for a large rig I'd go in for it. For now I recommend the newegg route if you don't get any bites though.

Depends on what you're using and cost of electricity. I'm currently mining on a mishmash of rigs, my system has a 1080 and a 960, GF's has a 970, and I'm making money faster than it's costing me by a fair margin (about 8c/kwh where I am). Not counting electricity costs, I've made about $350 since the start of the year via nicehash. Mind you, these aren't 24/7 miners, mine's in use by me from around 5:00PM until 11:00PM, GF's is in use from sometime in the morning until around the same time, so realistically that number could have been closer to $400-450 by now if it was a 24/7 miner.

The 1080 is pulling most of the weight, probably 60% of the total mining, and it cost me $530 back at the end of 2016, so it's almost made its money back (totally disregarding the fact that I bought it for gaming, not mining).

Thank you I'll go the Newegg route! I also really like your Mining story - I think I might follow that route (passive mining using my RX 480 in the simple Gaming Rig)

Vishnu

EDIT 1 : Looks like NewEgg jacked up the prices by $10 since I bought this...! https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138449

And on Ebay, NewEgg is selling this for $99...wow.
