I'm gonna give it a weekend or two and if it sucks, I won't watch it. They are going to have to impress a lot of NFL fans quickly if they want a solid fan base.

I heard that there is no such thing in the XFL as a "fair catch" on a kickoff or punt.

Should make for some savage hits. :Q

Yeah, they don't allow fair catches, but the returner gets a six yard "halo" meaning no one can be within six yards of him when he catches the ball. Should make the timing pretty tough to get a really mean hit. I think the halo in the NFL is 2 yards, and that's on a fair catch.

Punts are also going to be live after 25 yards whether they're touched or not. Sorta like an onside kick. If a punter practices enough, he might get good at popping it up and letting some of his teamates who can jump get under it.

Should at least be interesting.

Woohoo, that's cool about the punts. Didn't know about the six yard halo. Yeah, that would make the timing sort of difficult for a really head poppin' hit.

We've been discussing XFL at work. All the football junkies there say they have something to fall back on.

Even though I'm a basketball junkie, I'll probably check it out.

I've got mixed blessings towards the XFL... I'm sure I'm going to watch 'cause it's going to be extremely entertaining... and I'm sure they'll be some great hits... but the no fair catch thing I've heard about, don't know how well that's going to work... special teams might be a lil different in this league. Also, I'm sorta anticipating some of the games just turning into big brawls and what not and that's not very "footballishlike"... Either way, good or bad, it'll be fun to watch.

I'm looking forward to it. It really seems like they're trying to take advantage of the NFL "no fun league" stance over the last couple of years (no celebration, no endzone dances etc). XFL should be about the same caliber as NFL Europe in terms of talent level, but it should be more entertaining than the NFL in a lot of ways.

I can't wait 'till one of the coaches runs on the field with a ringside seat and smacks the opposing QB on the head with it. Of course, the refs will conveniently be looking the other way because of a distraction caused by a player throwing his helmet or something. Then, when noone's looking, two of the O' Linemen are gonna gang up on one of the linebackers and put a figure four leglock on'em ... should be fun!!

Jerry the King Lawler is one of the announcer in the 2nd game. So it'll be Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, and Jonathan Coachman.

Overated. I give it two seasons. It it lasts longer, I might decide to give it a shot.

Keep in mind there will also be no drug testing going on. Kinda reminds me of the old "All Drug Olympics" skit on SNL...

I'll watch, if only while I'm going through NFL withdrawal.

Don't forget the Opie and Anthony pregame show on NBC! They're the best duo on radio, and I can't wait to see them on TV.

I'm looking forward to it.

Here are a few more rules I just heard about from two members of the LA Extreme. (Who Vegas just made the favorites already lol)

1. Only one foot needed in bounds for a completed catch.

2. One offensive player may be in forward motion when the ball is snapped (kinda like arena league??)

3. There will be no coin flip; starting possession will be determined by placing the ball at a particular yard marker and having the two fastest guys on either team go after it!?? LMAO!! (That one sounds hilarious)

4. The QBs will be miked up and the feed will go directly into speakers in the stands (rendering audibles moot?!

5. Cheerleaders will interact with both crowd and players. (They joked about not only having 50 yard line seats, but also a lapdance and the same time!)

6. No penalties for hard hits....I see ugly injuries in this league. Will anyone be standing by the end?

Pretty good if you ask me. 3 out of the 4 games will be televised.

I will definetely give this league a chance...how much of a chance depends on how good it is.

The "forward motion" and "no fair catch" rules have been staples in the Canadian Football League.

"Cheerleaders will interact with both crowd and players."

In that case, I'm purchasing front row season tickets.

I was reading that the salaries will be in the $40,000 range with the really good players possibly making $50,000! I am hoping that is a typo, if not looks like it will be much like wrestling in that Mchannon will be making a ton of money of other peoples dreams and pain. Though they are all adults though so hey, if he can sleep soundly doing that, more power to him........

The XFL is a joke, who would be willing to take a career ending injury for 40K a year. The Womens Pro football league is a joke too.
