Greely's kinda the Terre Haute of Colorado, Minendo.

I came from Indiana six years ago. The cost of living out here is significantly higher than Indiana, but I wouldn't go back. Colorado's a great state. You looking to move?

Hope you know, Greeley smells like ass. Literally. One of the largest slaughter houses in the US is there (Monford Beef.) Thousands of cattle are kept in holding pens before slaughter. Also several industrial hog farms are around there as well. You can smell the town from Ft. Collins, and even on bad summer days you catch a whiff of it in Boulder (~60+ miles.) Supossedly you don't notice after you've been living there a while, but I can't imagine how.


Given this fact, Greelely is extremely inexpensive (as far as the rest of the Front Range is concerned.) Its actually a nice town. It just smells like sh!t and death.


If you decide to move there, make sure to visit first, to know where you are going. Else, move to Ft. Collins area if you want to be in N. CO.

Yeah, it smells like ass... specifically on tuesday (or was that thursday) mornings when they would fire up the incinerators. If you don't mind the smell, the suburbs are nice, around the college is nice, the rest I would avoid.

Ditto on the smell. It hits you about 15 miles away, moreso on 85 than I-25. They say you get used to it... but why would you want to? Ft. Collins isn't too far away, but probably a better town to live in.

[*]What kind of rent should I expect to pay in 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom places? Can you recommend any complexes, preferably one that allows dogs since I already have a dog?

[*]What is the current price of gas?

[*]What kind of nightlife oppurtunities are available?

Greeley is like living in a sewer.

I'm in Greeley, and it stinks to high heaven a lot of the time. It's fairly cheap, but it feels like a classic small town with the row of shops along the major freeways, and then a seemingly dead downtown. If you can afford it, move to Fort Collins, it's so much better.

Pretty sure you're not going to get much of a night life in Greely. Hell, I can't get much of a nightlife in Colorado Springs. You basically have to go to Denver for any sort of clubbing.

I paid 1.89/gallon for premium last time I filled up. That was about a week ago.

And I can't speak to the real estate market in Greely or Fort Collins. It varies pretty widely up and down the Front Range.

I'm not sure, I'm a single college student in a student apartment complex. I do know there's a house for sale not far from me (but about a block from the college) for $119k.

I pay about $450 per month, but this place is for students and not dogs.

$1.56 at the cheapest places, $1.68 most everywhere else.

If you're referring to bars and such...there's three or four local bars, then there's Old Chicago. If you're referring to clubs, I'm pretty sure there's a whole one. The movie theaters are overpriced and slightly rundown, and most of the restaurants except for Village Inn close by 9. If you really want a good local nightlife, you need to go to Boulder, Denver or Fort Collins.

If you really want to move, come out and visit for a couple days. You might like it...then again, the stink might drive you away.

I grew up in Ft Collins, we made fun of Greeley and said that Live song "Sh!t towne" was written about Greeley.

I'd say FC is a better choice...you got a job offer out there? I used to bitch about my hometown a lot but now I miss it terribly

My best friend is from Greeley. He says that everyone should live there for a year, just so they appreciate where they live, now.

I guess you already have heard about the smell, so no need to go anymore into that.

Enjoy the Rockies! I'm trying to figure out a way to move my family to anywhere near the rockies.

I was born in Westminster. I lived in Hudson as a child. The last time I was in Colorado was about two years ago with X-Man. It'd been about 16 years since I'd been there before that. I don't really remember Greeley all that much so I can't offer any advice. I just thought I'd add my two cents. When would you be going? Tim and I are probably going to be going to Indiana again to his brother's house for the 4th of July this year.
