Just started downloading it,looked interested and personally i have played so much BF3 i just need something else to play before i go crazy lol.

Anyone ever played this or currently engaging in gameplay? How does it fair against other f2p shooters?

I am very stubborn about new games,my entire library besides BF3 is 2007 and before and personally i need something new and exciting like asap.:\

I enjoy it a lot. Put around 315 hours into it so far. Haven't played in the last couple of weeks though

It is a good game but takes a little getting use to. You will be rather lost for a little bit as well. While it is an FPS so it would look deceptively easy to get into, it is still an MMO with lots of mechanics and systems you need to learn that makes it a lot more complicated. I'm not sure how the new tutorials are but I recommend doing them all the same and probably watching some intro videos that give overview of the game as well.

It is nice though because it gives a lot of variety. Don't feel like being in the middle of the fire fights but still want to take part? You can snipe or stealth in and start sabotaging enemies equipment behind. Don't feel like being on foot? Jump in a tank and roll around with some other tanks and just blow shit up, or you can be a gunner for a pilot or pilot a fighter yourself. Lots to do and usually something to always fill what you feel like doing.

I played it a bunch and enjoyed it throughout. The game is epic in scale and the battles can really be awesome. That said, I think it suffers from many of the same balance issues of any game that offers multi-modal combat. It's very hard to make a game involving infantry, armor, and air without any one of those three roles feeling like it is getting pillaged by the others. My perception at the time I last played, a couple of months ago, was that air was just owning infantry and armor, but maybe that has changed.

I haven't played in a week or so. It was fun, but the game just gets really repetitive.

The downloading just finished, spent about 5 mins in the game and that was about it for me.

Wanted to like it but the game tanks on my gtx650,first impressions is despite how demanding BF3 is,this game looks years worst yet seems much more demanding and dropping it to 1680x1050 very low looked like absolute crap and played the same.

First impressions to me are everything,i spawned for the first time on a map outside this base and not even 3 seconds later theres some enemy asshole who blasts me who hid behind some crates, spawn again a second time on a squad and theres another asshole camping on the side of a mountain who doesn't blast my teammates but wipes me out most likely cause my rank yells "n00b' and it left me feeling like a stat statistic at best.

You can't tell what rank an enemy is. The reason you probably got picked off was you were standing still and were the easiest target to hit. I also doubt you even know where the person that killed you was as well since there is no kill cam. About the only time you know where you were killed from is if they were in front of you or in the same general area, or in a vehicle.

Also, from what it sounds with spending about 5 mins in game, you didn't even bother to learn earn anything and probably though like so many others do that, its an FPS, I'll just play because I'm good at FPS's. Not the case in PS2. You need to learn the game and have to be much more aware of your surroundings and keep yourself in cover.

the game tanks likely not because of your 650 (unless you're foolishly trying to run with GPU limiting settings), but because the game is CPU limited and can bring even a 5GHz i7 rig to its knees, no matter how much settings are tweaked

not only can battles have far more players/vehicles than in BF3, PS2 is nowhere near as optimized for multicore support

hopefully things will change given that they're porting the game over to the PS4 and have even admitted how huge a task it will be to rework the game in order to get acceptable performance out of the console as it has a much slower CPU that will rely on its 8 cores to get anything done.

Had dropped my settings all the way to very low 1680x1050 and it looked dreadful,i never put any of my settings in any game period to high as to cause low fps dips, hell when i suggest settings for games with a certain gpu, people often criticize me for having them to low lol as i try and go for the best performance possible.

Actually did see the guy before i got popped, there was a little ridge on the side of the mountain he was crouched behind and heck one of my teammates just walks right pass as well lol then when i walked to where he came from the enemy dude popped up like a gopher and popped me lol.

Considering a new gpu upgrade then yeah i will consider giving it another shot, going all the way very low 1680x1050 and getting the framerate i got was awful,1440900 in that game gives me black bars and it looks even worst lol.

What CPU do you have? If you're getting bad frame rates at lower resolutions then you're CPU probably isn't up to snuff.

The game is a CPU hog and just not optimized. Even mine has a hard time getting over 60 fps unless there is nothing going on. As far as dieing, it happens a lot no matter how good you are. There are too many angles and ways of being one shot which is why medics get so much XP. When I first started, I had something like a .1 K/D ratio and was able to bring it over 1 in a month.

It ran great on my 560ti, and even better on my 660. But the game is not all that pretty, so perhaps that is what's disappointing you. It's optimized for huge battles with lots of moving objects, not static scenery.

I haven't played in quite a while... I can see when I was playing how it would be pretty irritating to be new.

Which is likely exactly how I would feel if I tried to play now... and BR isn't really that big of a deal outside of your points. However, when I played I really felt like I didn't need to do anything else... Because I could be effective as I was.

I did log in the other day and for some reason I have like 3000 points to spend... but I doubt I'll ever actually play again. It was pretty epic the first two months tho.... and I in general hate shooters.

i5 2500 non k,sitting at 3.4ghz.

I saw my gpu usage sitting nice and pretty for the most part at 99% and i was still seeing 40-45 fps with the framerate really not going to 60 that much at all at 1680x1050 very low.

Could def say its my card as there was a guy on youtube running a gtx680 at 1080p and with very high settings apparently was getting like 35fps or something like that,my card on high 1200p got like a whopping 19fps and that was in the combat training....

Planetside 2 is one of the greatest FPS games of all time. I don't think there has ever been anything like it before. Huge maps, numerous bases, up to 6000 people at a time on a server (am I right on that?). It is very well done. I am a harsh critic of most games for being consolized, but this game really impresses me and I've been having a lot of fun with it. The scale of the game is awe-inspiring.

Yeah i noticed just how massive this game is,its almost like a whole virtual world in itself sorta like Tron but like 5x bigger.

From the looks of it,the game seems to be almost like some sort of civil war that just never ends does it?People will be fighting for control points for god who knows how long till one army just controls the whole planet.....years maybe?

Well there is no end game. Although we suspect that with the release of hossin, it will end up being possible to lockdown continents. In PS1 each faction actually had a sanctuary map of their own, a main base that had 3 warpgates to 3 (rotating) continents. If we wanted to take over bases on a continent we did not have a link to, we would need to take over enough bases on one of the 3 continents we had access to up to the warpgate linking to that continent.

So lets say VS linked to esimir but not hossin, and TR linked to hossin but not esimir. VS could take over all of esimir and then travel through the linked warpgate to hossin and start taking bases there. Because we controlled the bases on both sides of the warpgate, TR can't take any bases on esimir because it is now locked.

Now, if we also introduce base resources like in PS1, we have another method of taking bases. If a base is drained of all power, it loses its affiliation. Now in PS1, base power was used in spawning, but also base repair like turrets and consoles. Keeping these destroyed allowed us to power down a base. This made is possible to take bases in a locked or non linked area.

Pretty much everything THIS.

1) Very cpu unfriendly. It is almost entirely single threaded. GOOD NEWS though, the main program is being redone and multithreaded for the PS4 release. Once that version is completed it will be brought over to the PC version. Can we say double frame rate increases over night?

2) You can't, predict, ANYTHING. If there is the possibility of a sniper being behind that hill, there is most likely a sniper behind that hill. In normal FPS games you will run through many areas you think are completely safe like your own bases that are deep behind your lines, only to get killed by some enemy ESF or infiltrator who us running around on his own. Keep moving at ALL TIMES.

3) you will probably be playing classes you don't care for, with weapons you don't like, using armor that is not upgraded, your KD ratio WILL BE CRAP when you start out. I actually stated a second character last night so I can play late nights (am) on a populated server, I'm like a glass chandelier again.

Awesome game, love it. Got sick of BF3 and I'm enjoying this more than the battlefield series. So much more scale and opportunity for teamwork.

Squads of 12 and platoons of 48 are simply awesome, especially when on comms and working together.

If you play with a group it is easily the best shooter ever. Not so if you try to play it solo.

If you liked BF3 you will love PS2. I just don't enjoy vehicle based combat so much, so I quit pretty early on. Honestly, I am getting super burnt out on shooters.

I like PS2, and it runs great on my computer.

However, it does not run great on my internet. Any battles larger than 20 players end up in warping/endless lag. I'm around BR 20, but I'd probably be much higher if I could actually play. When I play I usually just get my family, hop in a sunderer and just take empty bases and get into the occasional fight, as that is about all we can do.

Never had a problem with performance with it, works great on my system. I just got burnt out on it because it was repetitive. The same areas are always filled and nothing much more.

You seem to think the game requires you to like vehicle based combat? If you work in squads, your vehicle usage is basically riding in galaxies until you get to your drop point. You don't need to touch them otherwise. Infact you can make it your personal goal to become an AV/AA terminator. The less enemy armor around the better.
