GOWIPE 3 stars is still a bit tough at TH8 do to camp space. You really need two golems to make against well set up bases. Unless you can get one in your CC it's still tough. Once you hit TH9 and upgrade your camps it makes it a lot easier.
Offense overpowers defense for loot, but if you play for the war aspect, at a TH8 level, its still hard to 3 star a max TH8 with dragons. Once you unlock GoWiPe though, its a different story.
Yeah, TH1-7 are easily playable without dedicating real time at it. I grinded through the TH6 walls in no time and only then did I realize what the point of farming was. The rest of the time I just grew from wars or from collectors. TH7 was incredibly easy to grind through (only 1 month), but TH8 is where things really slow down. The upgrades are significantly more, and it becomes harder to bank those resources. As you mentioned, one needs to use some strategy in ensuring how resources are banked to avoid looking like a profitable target.
Additionally, now that level 8 walls are gold only, you need to somehow get 112 million gold just for walls. That's 60 days alone if you just wait for your collectors.
Anyway, I have no problem with the game. The grind is doable, and I'm a mid TH8 now. I've finished my wizard towers, mortars, and have 1 tesla to 6. All 4 barracks are now Pekka capable, and I have 56 skull walls built. I have only giants, goblins, healer, pekka, and dark troops to upgrade. My DE drills are maxed and so is my storage.

Grind, grind, grind. Wait 10 days for an upgrade. Enjoy your extra 3% damage. Repeat.
It's "fun" in some senses, but the reality that you're not getting anywhere is grating. I usually just play once I'm able to get another 7-day shield and progress for a change.
Oh definitely. I've been in perma-farming mode (TH outside) since I found out about this like 3 months ago.I like to put my TH on the outside of my base, helps to save up more. I never really focus on trophies until I want to see how powerful my base really is. So I will farm for a while, upgrade as much as I can, and then spend all my money, leaving non in the gold or elixer storages, (leaving no incentive to attack) and then work my way up. So far I have gotton over 2600 trophies. I have come back down to gold I for now and will upgrade for a some time and try to reach the 3000 trophy mark!
And I love the Pekka, she can be stupid as hell sometimes..lol

It definitely helps, but since the whole update to remove elixir upgrading walls at TH8, I feel like people just want to blow elixir now because there's too much. Got 200k gold? Say hello to my 10 dragons.
Well I'm not hitting TH10s, and even if I do, if I can run off with 300k gold or 2k elixir, I might do it.I would say, got 10 dragons? Say hello to my inferno towners..lol
5x boost on barbs and dragons: 4 sec barbs, 6 min drags.
Boost your barracks, and you get 1 sec barbs, 1.5 minute dragons. For a TH8 that means a barb army in 50 seconds, or 4.5 minutes for an all drag army.
Has it? Barch farming looks for abandoned bases/collector pickings anyway.And it's killed loot in the gold leagues. In the process of moving up to crystal to see if it's any better.
