Reason I ask is that last night Steam pops up a message telling me it downloaded it for me and all I have to do is to enable it(I assume after I pay a fee). So I gots to thinking, is it worth it?

I read that it's not. It's pretty much just Counter-Strike multiplayer with bots and some new objectives. I haven't played it but from the reviews that I've read, I'm not really interested.

Ok, I won't. I saw some screenshots and it looked like the same old CS(which I haven't really played in a couple years now)so it's no big deal either way for me, just thought there might be something worth checking out.

condition zero = cs 1.7

Its counter-strike 1.6 with a single player campaign and some redone maps. I think the deleted scenes are better then the actualy game.... quite sad realy.

Valve should have let Ritual finish the game, sadly i wasted $30 on it

deleted scenes are better than the game itself.. you actually going thru different missions.. if ritual was able to finish the game, condition zero woulda been a better game..

I used to get 200ish ping on 56k which was quite playable, but that was a couple years ago and things may have changed since then.

That's the thing about reviews.. "I heard it sucks.", "I saw a review saying it bites.", etc.

You want the real skinny on it, you gotta play it. I have.

Now, for the folks that say it sucks, you're half right; the multi-player version of the game that allows you to host a server and play with the bots, yeah, the AI sucks pretty bad, even with the % of CPU cranked up. :disgust:

Where the game gets better is in the Single player mode, where you have to go through 6 "tours of duty" with 3 maps each, completing various challenges for each along the way.

I've been playing CS since the earliest Betas, and while not an Uber player, I can hold my own in the middle of the pack. Even so, the Easy mode should be completed by even the rawest n00bs, as the AI is pretty deficient. Normal mode was a breeze for me.. I get ALOT more challenge on ANY pub server out there. Hard mode was quite a bit more challenging for me; some maps were relatively easy to complete, while others were much more difficult requiring me to play multiple times to succeed. At this point, I often had to rack up a number of kills and map wins before attempting to actually complete the various map Challenges.

I'm now playing on the Expert mode and it's giving quite the challenge. The AI of the bots is quite good, they work together as a group, they walk silently, set up ambushes, etc. - much more what I expect when playing with experienced CS players.

Unfortunately, moving from the Single Player part of the game to the Multiplayer part is dissappointing because the Bots become really stupid, especially so, if you have CTs deploying the shields - it's actually kind of comical to watch.

I bought the game as soon as it came out - so yeah, I paid the $39.99 for it at Best Buy. Was it worth it? Not until I got to some of the maps on the Hard skill level of the Single Player part of the game -- if you don't bother playing through to that point, you will agree the game sucks. However, if you hang on, you'll find a good challenging game, definitely worth a $20 investment.
