allright, ive been reading this book for fun during my summer vacation and i have reached page 120ish, and it has started going downhill with the girl passing winston the "i love you" note. The book was freaking awesome up untill that point. if i dont like love stories, any point to continue? please, no other spoilers, just want to know if the thing is ONLY love story from here on out.

Obviously one of the most critically acclaimed books of the past twenty years isn't worth finishing because two of the characters are affectionate towards each other. Good call.

Do they talk about the germans who decided to make a car that breaks down every 5 miles? (Pissed at my 84 318i)

I feared the same thing when I read the book for the first time, but don't worry, love has very little place, if any, in this book.

"I sold you and you sold me, underneath the spreading chestnut tree."

About half a day for me.

I'm a slow reader, and I don't get enough time to do it.

I can burn through ficton like crazy. Though sometimes I go months without reading someting then all of a sudden something catches my interest. God help me if it is a series, because then I can't rest until I have read them all.

I have the same problem. The Dune series grabbed me by the balls and hasn't let go. Managed to put off a couple of the books for a while though.

The book was originally published in 1949, if I remember correctly.

The first time I read LOTR I was up for two days.

I have been trying to steer clear of Dune until I get some time off.

I was unemployed when I started. Great for long train rides to and from work when I wasn't sleeping. Definitely a mindfuck though.
