The book was freaking awesome up untill that point. if i dont like love stories, any point to continue? please, no other spoilers, just want to know if the thing is ONLY love story from here on out.

Finish the book. You won't be dissapointed, and besides It is a huge stretch to call what is going on between them love . . . the gratification is more physical then emotional, which ties into some of the other points orewell was trying to make . . .

Hehe. The point of the relationship between Winston and Julia in 1984 was to show how the government of Oceania controlled every aspect of the people's lives, including their private sexual relationships, and how the government discouraged sex among the people except for reproduction. Remember that Julia is a member of the "Junior Anti-Sex League". Their affair then, a simple and beautiful thing in a free society, is the worst sort of crime in the IngSoc society.

1984 is a short book that packs a big punch. After reading it, I suggest Animal Farm if you haven't read that already.

I did my senior critical analysis on it.

Go ahead and finish it. It won't take more than a couple of hours.

The book is NOT a love story, and in a few years from now, 1984 is going to be a reality.

Obviously one of the most critically acclaimed books of the past twenty years isn't worth finishing because two of the characters are affectionate towards each other. Good call

George Orwell wrote the book in late 1940's...

Its taken you a whole summer to read it and you're on page 120?

No. Probably no point to continue.

Sounds like the guy you bought it from did a piss-poor job maintaining it.

I got to read both 1984 and a brave new world in high school, although I think I had read 1984 before that.

Neither book was required reading at my high school for some reason.

Though, the Scarlet Letter was. I hated that book, it still pisses me off to this day.

I had to read that too. It wouldn't have been quite as bad if it wasn't so predictable.

Too much symbolism with no substance. 1984 has a lot of symbolism, but at least it makes you think. The Scarlet Letter just seemed like a movie script.
